I’d say save your money until something really compelling comes out. You already have an OLED TV, why not wait until there’s MicroLED? You have an appletv 4k, why not wait until something comes out that is a real leap forward. I have a 2020 iPad Pro, my last iPad was an original iPad Air. I’d love a new M1 IPad, but I have no use case, so I’ll save my money.

HDMI 2.1 / eARC / A12 / 120Hz when they do the update at WWDC (rumoured) :)

Yes, I have a Sonos Arc and a Samsung 4k 120Hz TV. :)

(the other 4k is going into the bedroom)

And the new 4k?
Don't know as I don't have one yet but I have big hops as they have change the CPU I guess they have also change the GPU. And as they did talk about calibration (the iPhone thing) I hope they have done it bit accurate.

I'll measure and calibrate it with my i1Pro (X-Rite) when I get it.

Isn’t that what the colour calibration function is for which is available on all tvOS devices?
No,
The bit incorrection is on the output and it can't get fixed with software update. But they can maybe have built in compensation for it. So the calibration function are taking the incorrection in to the calculation but it still not right but I guess that should be a work a round the problem.

I've held off ordering because it's not a massive jump from the 2017 model, and I only have a low end LG 4K TV anyway.

However if the rumours are true about ARC & eARC support then that might just push me to do the upgrade.

I have the LG CX with 120hz + HDMI 2.1 and just cancelled my Apple TV 4K (gen 2) preorder. I have a Apple TV 4K (gen 1) and have no reason to upgrade at this point. I’ll see what content and software updates come, leakers still think a higher performance model (A14X) is coming for gaming, maybe for this holiday season (Q4)? I have a PS5 so I’m not holding my breath.

Normal ARC already works fine on existing models.

Do you need eARC for some specific reason?

After watching a few YouTube videos and reading the comments here, have decided my AppleTV 4K (2017) is fine, however I will order the new remote to replace the original one - my 63 yo fingers need a better control.
