I’ve never had AppleCare for watches, but I did take it out for the ultra. I don’t know why but I just have a feeling. I might need it at some point, especially as I do a lot of water sports

I have had a iMac screen replaced twice in my home for pink tinge, tech had to drive 4 hours. Was worth it then lol
And all the other devices for which you could have bought AC+, and had no repairs? Such as from your sig:
24" iMac. MBA M2. iPad Pro M1 11". iPhone 13 Max. AW Ultra. APP2
Plus previous and future devices.

Let's not selectively forget about those, too.

(Note: it makes no difference if you actually bought AC+ on these devices or not, the point remains the same)

Only do iMacs as I don't live anywhere near a Apple Store, 5 hour drive and comes with onsite service, bought 2nd hand iPad once that came with it.
Where did I say I bought it for everything? Nice try though with your mind reading lol

Like I said, it does not matter if you bought AC+ for everything or for nothing. You appear to not understand.

To decide if AC+ is "worth it," you cannot selectively choose a device that you had AC+ and had a repair, and then conclude it is worth it.

You need to add up:
A) the total AC+ cost quoted by Apple on all devices you have ever owned (whether you actually bought AC+ or not), plus the AC+ service fees, and compare with:
B) the total cost of repairs/replacements on all devices you have ever owned (whether you or Apple paid for the repair)

In my case A) is nearly $2000, and B) is $350 (to replace a smashed iPad)

Bangs head against wall lol

A, again only bought for 2 x iMac, 2 screen replacements way way way way more than AC
B, didn't pay service fees
C, never had any other issue

I buy it for everything Apple. Seems to pay not just for the extended warranty, but during the regular warranty as well. Case in point - Have AirPods pro - experienced the issue where they made the screeching sound. Went to Apple Genius bar. Statement made was with AppleCare, they replace there. Without, they'd send them in and I'd get replacements later.

Used to be I never bought extended warranties for anything electronic as I could fix PCs pretty easily and monitors were changing pretty quick - if one died, I'd want the newer tech anyway. Now, though, everything I buy is expensive to fix. AppleCare has paid off for both MacBook Pro's I've owned. Each needed repairs costing more than what AppleCare cost me.

never really felt it's needed for a watch to be fair. it shouldn't be a situation where it could get damaged if it's always on your wrist.

I do feel like buying for apple care is just throwing money down the drain.

I got it for my Ultra and series 8. I will probably never use it, but the minute I stopped it, a monster would rip my arm off and eat my watch, Lucky? If I was in a marching band, I would carry the piano.

Religious AppleCare+ purchaser here. It has paid for itself over the many years that my wife and I have been using Apple Devices.

We’ve had iPhones, iPads, and MacBooks completely replaced for $0 with AppleCare+. One could make an argument that some of those would have happened anyway without AC+ but in one case, 3 years after we bought a MacBook Pro it had a failing battery (service now warning) and they replaced it because it’s as one month from AC+ expiring - $0.

I’ve always had really good experiences with Apple Store - could be the amount of $ I’ve given Apple over the years… but even slight scratches, Apple has readily offered to give me an AC+ instance replacement without any hesitation.

For me AC+ is a peace of mind, better/faster treatment at Apple Stores, and a warranty that you don’t get anywhere else. I like supporting AC+ and I like the direction AC+ went with the monthly fee and unlimited instances.

I have it on my airpods because every set of headphone I've ever had eventually has issues. I think I'm going to skip it for my apple watch. I just don't see how I could break or seriously damage it based on my last couple of apple watches.

The Genius bar replaced my out-of-warranty AirPods Pro 1 because it made a weird noise, they counted it under the recall program despite the symptoms not being exactly as the recall program described, and they gave me a bunch of replacement ear tips.

In the past 15 years, I only had one iPad died in the second year which was covered by the extended warranty program from my credit card. Most of the problems the older devices have are deteriorated batteries, but usually it only happens after 4-5 years and even AppleCare extended warranty is long expired.

The AppleCare money that I didn't pay for is worth more than multiple new Apple gadgets now. As I've said long time ago, extended warranty is insurance and we usually buy insurance for the things that we probably cannot afford if something goes wrong, like health, real estate (fire, third party liability), etc.

I can agree if you use it in the water so often. Without AC+ Apple will spend 10K on lawyer just to make sure to prove that " you wore it wrong in water". I took a shower with Samsung watch I had once. It was enough for it to die. Guarantee period was over but I called Samsung and pointed out that they write in their website that it can be used for swimming. As in EU you have right to claim manufacturing defects for three years, they took my watch back and paid me full amount.
I don't think that Apple can be generous like Samsung. I didn't take AC+ for my AW6. I hoped that the my battery in 12PM would go down to 80% so that it can be replaced under AC+. But it is still at 91% for the last 12 months! I have few more weeks to think about get AC+ or not..
I had an iPad which failed after 4 years.

Apple Store replaced it no questions free or charge.

Apple Store are actually very good at honouring their EU obligations.

Remember though that beyond the warranty period, your claim is against the retailer. So purchase directly from an Apple Store and you’ll have no trouble.

Keep this in mind,

I tend to worry about smacking the Watch into a doorjamb or similar, because I've done that on my regular wristwatches too.

Had AC+ on my S1, OLED rapidly developed burn-in/image retention at about the 21 month mark and it was replaced no hassle.
Had it month to month on my S4, which never presented an issue, so I cancelled it.
Bought it for the Ultra, we'll see if I need it.

Got AC+ for my Series 7 Edition as it gives me peace of mind until 2024 about accidental damage, battery issues, etc. As has been pointed out already, just use it once and it's more than paid for itself.

Never had it on any devices and never needed it, however, after a month or so with the AWU I went for it. Mainly based on the size of the watch - it's larger and when out cycling or doing watersports it is just more prominent so more likely to catch something. Equally with the battery life I have gone down to just the AWU so would need it replaced quickly if any problems. It really does come down to your usage and risk appetite though as with all insurances👍

For the price of an ultra strap, ac+ is worth it for the peace of mind alone.

I have a feeling apple will be dealing with lots of warranty claims for the awu since their whole marketing campaign for the watch is rugged outdoors activities like mountain climbing, mountain biking etc. I could easily see someone complaining they ran into a door or wall and now the screen is cracked or case is bent, and apple would have to honor their marketing

I know the case is titanium but apple kinda set themselves up for it. We’ll see how these awus hold up but so far, they seem to be tough

I was thinking about getting EU AC+ for the AWU but eventually passed after reading through all of the terms and conditions. It seems useful when you completely break the watch, but not so much for other kinds of (user) damage.

Maybe I am a bit more careful or just lucky. I’ve been using Apple products for quite some time. Never broke anything, just the regular wear and tear that wouldn’t be covered under AC anyway. The only thing that ever stopped functioning properly was my 1st generation iPod.

As Ultra is still a fake Sapphire (glass with sapphire particles) then yes.

8:50 for Ultra:

But before is Garmin with real sapphire

He said they were all sapphire crystal. The meter went crazy on the Apple - more than Samsung's. And Apple was similar to the Samsung on hardness test. Considering Sapphire Crystal is manmade anyway, I wouldn't go so far as to say it's "fake".
