It's NOT fake sapphire! Did you not even watch the video?
Of corse. But calling a sapphire something which only contains sapphire crystal particles is fake for me.
So in short even meter shows it’s sapphire but in terms of durability for scratches is still worse than real full sapphire.

So yes, definitely Apple Care will be nice to have.

Years ago I bought AppleCare but found my bet it would fail and Apple's bet it would not fail and Apple was winning the bet. Over the years I had only one instance where I had a failure and that was with an Apple iPhone 7 that my wife dropped on cement. Since I had quit buying AppleCare I ended up paying at that time something like $129.00 for the replacement screen.

Buying AppleCare is in my opinion you betting it will fail and Apple betting it will not fail and since it is a good product Apple wins and keeps the money

I am doing monthly, I surf in it most days so just in case, got it for my APP2 the discount I got off them paid for it and am likely to drop one in the pool or toilet or something lol.
Only other thing I have had it for is my iMac as I live no where near an Apple Store and they send a tech to your house.

The corollary for life insurance is that you are betting you will die early, and the insurance company is betting you won't. Interesting thought to be betting on your own life, and that you are rooting for your own early death. ;)

(PS: please don't respond that is not the purpose of life insurance. I know.)

2 months after buying an ipad pro 11” I dropped something on it & completely smashed the screen. I didn’t have AC & found the cost of having the screen replaced astronomical. I bought an iPad pro 12.9” to replace it & you can bet I took AC - the same goes for my Ultra. Very expensive lesson learned

Never have bought Apple Care for any of my devices so I am many bucks ahead in case I have to replace something.
The other advantage of this approach is that if you have to replace something, it is your choice what you replace it with, not Apple's. For example, you replace it with the latest model, not the same old model.

I’ve not heard of that before. If you rash your m1 ipad. They are not going to replace it with a M2 iPad if there are still m1’s available. Same goes for watches. They will not replace a series 7 with a series 8;.

I think what they’re saying is if you don’t do AppleCare+ you have the choice to replace it with whatever you want (obviously for out of pocket cost).

AppleCare+ has paid for itself for me over all the years - yes it isn’t cheap but we’ve come out positive so I get it on every device I own. For others, they don’t have problems, they can save that $ and purchase replacements when their stuff breaks/dies.

That said - I’ve read stories here of people who find a very sympathetic Apple Genius who replaces an old device with a newer one when servicing (but usually not related to AppleCare+). And I think they don’t do this much anymore, lol.

That is the disadvantage of AppleCare. If you don’t get AppleCare, you replace it with the latest model (or a different model that suits you better) - at your own expense of course, which can be ok because over the years you have saved more by not getting AppleCare.

The point is, people forget this difference when deciding whether to get AC or not. It can be a big difference after 3 years.

I don't know about Apple Watch, I didn't get it for my Hermes 7.
But I did get Apple Care for my Airpods 3. I feel the AirPods needed additional insurance.

For me, my biggest risk with AirPods is losing them (have done so once already). Unfortunately Apple Care does not cover losing them, so I think it not worthwhile

I got it on two pairs of AP Pro’s and was able to get replacement case and buds right before AC+ was expiring because the batteries exhausted so it was worth it. I also have it for my Ultra because working in a prison, you never know…

I had a series 5 titanium that really didn’t need to use applecare+ in the whole time I used it so for me, with the ultra I did not see a need for it. I was rough with the series 5. No scratches on the screen just here and there on the body.
