Beg to differ with the previous response, but of course you can drain it by leaving it in sleep. It is draining it, just not as fast as when you are using it. And that wasn't answered in the links to Post No. 3 as you were so rudely referred to. If you are calibrating it, you probably want to be using it toward the end of the discharge cycle so you will observe the point that it is forced into sleep. It is a little bit beyond that that it does the safe sleep thing where the memory is written to hard drive, hence the time you are supposed to leave it along after it is forced into sleep. But in the discharge part of the calibration, between the 100% charge and about the 10%, either by using it or leaving it sleeping is fine.
 
Leaving your battery plugged in constantly will have negative effects over the long haul.


this is true. i've ruined two, my last one had only 97 cycles and was at 20% capacity. this time around, im actually gonna use my mbp, as a laptop.
