Agreed with what others have said about Monster. You're paying for the name and those headphones are overpriced for the sound they put out.

Monster has made millions off of uneducated consumers who buy the hype of retail salesmen who tell you that Monster HDMI cables are the way to go and are top notch products yet I can buy some $15 premium Monoprice HDMI cables that are even better in make and quality.

The mark up is unbelievable.

While I agree that Monstor products are WAY over priced, some of their products are good. I like the sound generated by the $300 Dre Beats full headphones, but the sound of their ower priced models @$200 really drop off in sound quality.

To the guy that used his discount, you got a decent discount because they are a Monster product. All Monster crap is overpriced with a huge mark-up. When I worked at the Buy the cables were like 80-90% off with the discount. What's funny is the quality of the cables especially were neglegible despite what the stupid trainings would say.

It wasn't because it was Monster that I got a nice discount. The fact of the matter is that it doesn't cost much to make headphones or audio/video cables, period.

Aside from that, I agree that they have a huge mark-up and I wouldn't have ever bought these if I didn't work there. But to say that the only reason that the discount was so much was because it was Monster isn't true seeing as I could've got just about any $100 pair of cans for 40%+ off.

PS: Those trainings are stupid and should be taken w/ a grain of salt lol.

Grain of Salt? I slept through those stupid meetings and came out smarter for having done so. Waste of Saturday mornings. I remember missing my cartoons for that place.

Yeah the discounts on cables and TVs are really all I miss out of that place though I still know people so I really don't miss it too much. I do buy most of my cables through Monoprice so I spend about the same amount on cables as I did at the Buy anyway.

Anyway for all that was evil about Best Buy they paid me a ton of money to hang out with my friends and go to school. Not too bad all things considered. I can't believe I got paid over 60K a year just to hang.

What do you guys think about Bose in ears?

I bought a pair of the IE2's and sound quality is good. The original IE's were too heavy on the bass and the mid and highs sounded pretty washed out. The new ones have more of a "Bose" sound and you will either love them or hate them depending on your preference. I happen to really like the sound, but all people are different.

Probably the best part of the IE2's are the StayHear tips. They are very comfortable and will not fall out. They hook in very comfortably, but don't actually push into your ear canal. Even if you are just satisfied with the sound quality I would say the comfort and stability of the Bose IE2's make them worth a look.

How much background noise do they block out? I had the original Bose in-ears and they didn't block much out. Are the new ones any better?

Meelec is holding a 20 Days of Christmas promotion this month, the M6P is up for grabs next.

Coming from a reference quality music player (Cowon D2), I can say that the iPhone's sound quality sucks in comparison. I used to enjoy my Westone UM3X's (closer to 4 times your $100 budget, but I digress) on the D2, but it lost that feeling on the 4, just doesn't sound as good. So I say, no, don't spend the money, unless you're outputting to an amp etc, not worth it.
