I'm personally hoping for a larger screen. But I also don't have small hands...

I wouldn't be worried about some crazy huge new phone coming out. Apple isn't going to do anything drastic. They never do that in releases of new model iPhones. It will probably be a very slight increase in screen size with some minor increases in performance. A "FIT" device will probably be released at some point during the iPhone 6's lifespan as well.

Bahahahahaha!!!!

Okay, seriously. I kind of agree with the OP as far as not wanting a bigger phone. I'm currently still on an iPhone 4 and I've never wanted a bigger screen. The 4's size fits perfectly in my pocket. I get that some people may have larger hands and want bigger screens but my gripe with that is that the larger the phone the less room in the pocket. The 4 and 5 (from what I've seen) are perfect. If I need any more screen real estate, then that's what my iPad mini is for. For those of us who still want a phone and not a phablet, or some ridiculous gigantic thing in our pants (let the jokes begin), I sure hope they keep the size as is or at least continue giving us that option.

In all seriousness, check out the Moto X. If a company like Motorola can make a phone with a 4.7" screen fit so perfectly in your hand, Apple certainly should be able to as well.

I keep an iPhone 4 around mainly for music and no, no way would anyone I think want to go back to the 3.5". Lol it's not gonna happen anyway it would be moving backwards

I feel like increasing the screen size to 4.3-4.5" would be a good compromise because it'll allow for a bigger screen without the need to increase the physical size of the device.

Maybe I'm still a "greenhorn", but how would they increase the screen to 4.5" and still maintain the 4:3 aspect ratio with very little available side bezel area to play with? It seems like, if they increase to 4.5 they would also have to wide the phone in order to keep the 4:3 aspect ratio. Perhaps I don't yet understand screen sizes and pixel density.

The iPhone 5/5c/5s has a 16:9 aspect ratio display. If you want to see what a 4.7" screen looks like in a chassis that is slightly larger than the iPhone 5, take a look at the picture I posted half an hour ago.

Thank you, I stand corrected.

The 5/5S currently has a 16:9 aspect ratio screen. I'm not good with the math on it either (never my strong subject), but someone else did it and found that a 4.7" screen with the 16:9 aspect ratio would be exactly as wide as the current 5/5S body. So I figured it should be a bit smaller than that so there is a tiny bezel on each side.

I don't think one HAS to use a stylus if they don't want to simply because a phone screen size is too big. That's kind of ridiculous. Do you use a stylus when you use an iPad? Of course not. We have fingers for a reason. I find it ridiculous when people use a stylus when they're on their phones, but that's just me. I don't think them making the screen bigger is going to prevent usage of your actual fingers. They're not making it the size of an iPad. It's most in demand now since Apple is the only company that hasn't been making bigger screens as their competitors. I'm not saying I want a "phablet", trust me, it's the reason why I didn't go with Samsung, but they have other ways to incorporate a bigger screen without making it less portable.

I don't quite get this obsession for a bigger screen for a phone. I'd rather see better battery life. There should always be a medium sized screen option. The device that could use a bigger screen would be the iPod Touch. You could have a 5-6" screen on it so it could play the role of a very small tablet and/or wifi phone.

I'd be good with 4.3-4.5" screen, but I really wish manufactures would focus on getting rid of dead space on the front of the phone (bezel, whatever you want to call it), instead of on how thin they can make these.

This will most likely be the year they offer multiple size iphones. They may bump the current size up to 4.3", but I do not see them abandoning a small iphone for only a larger variant.

I've now seen a few rumored iPhone 6 screens of the 4.7 size, and to tell you the truth, they do not interest me enough to purchase one over the 5S that I have. It's just a tad wider with smaller bezel, and a bit taller as did the 5S over the 4S model. I do just fine for my needs with the current model.

Now if, later, the 6S comes out next year with a much better camera, a longer battery life, stronger screen, louder speakers, than I will consider one, but not this year. ;)

At this point, the size of the iPhone's screen is laughable. Apple has hung as long as they can, too long really. It's time to move on and realize that the vast majority of people, including this reporter, want a bigger screen.

The iPhone is getting a larger display, period. Deal with it.

Apple can increase the size of the screen all the way to 4.65" without increasing the size of the phone one millimeter in any direction.

In fact apple can do 4.2" with a huge black boarder (unused part of the screen) in the exact same chassis, and 4.4" with no boarder on the same chassis.

Screen size has nothing to do with phone size.

A reporter has spoken! End all discussion now and create a phone with a bigger screen.

The thing that gets me about Apple is that they carry this huge chip on their shoulder about how they make trends and don't follow them. The problem is that you can't always be a trendsetter in technology. Apple is way late to the game on large screened devices and way too conservative. There is just no reason at all they can't do multiple screen sizes at the same time. Don't have to go all Samsung on us with every possible permutation, but at least two different screen sizes would be fine. Sort of like how the only real differentiation between the iPad Mini and iPad Air is the screen size.

Hello friends and fellow Apple enthusiasts,

I am posting today to voice a concern over the rumors I have been hearing regarding Apple increasing the screen size of the iPhone.

Increasing the screen size of the iPhone will increase the overall size of the phone resulting in a decrease of the portability of the phone, as well as sacrificing one-handed use of the phone. Portability and ease of use are huge factors in the iPhone's overall utility and should not be compromised.

I am also concerned that an increase in the size of the iPhone will result in the necessary use of a stylus. A stylus is not only unduly burdensome to retrieve for use each time you wish to use your phone, but also it is very tacky. I see very little advantage to using a skinny pen shaped device with a round mushy end to take notes, type, or scroll through my phone. Using a stylus also presents the problems of stowing the stylus when not in use, along with losing and replacing the stylus. Why would I want to use a stylus when I have a finger?

And finally, does anyone else feel that some kind of device with a 6 inch screen is no longer a "cell phone?" Case in point, how many of you have laughed at people who currently use the large Samsung phone? It is pretty hilarious to watch someone carry around what appears to look like an iPad up to their ear making phone calls.

One last note... Why would Apple want to be focusing on issues such as increasing the screen size when there are much more important issues to be addressed with the iPhone, such as, I dunno, maybe BATTERY LIFE!

Please join in the discussion weighing the pros and cons of Apple increasing the screen size of the upcoming new iPhone.

I am sure Apple is coming here to read your post and paying attention to it.

I would like to see it increased to about 4.5-4.7 inches. It is still very usable at that size and the hit on battery life shouldn't be too bad.

I came to the iPhone 4S from the htc Evo 4G and was worried about reverting to a smaller screen. However, once on the 4S I found that the smaller screen wasn't as much of a burden as I had assumed, and Siri did much to alleviate my fears.

I'm quite happy with my iPhones 4S and 5, so I'm not really looking forward to a larger screen. I do, however, feel that 4.3 is the "sweet spot", anything larger is in danger of entering the realm of the absurd.
