Because this is not their job, they are not living from it. Maybe if you pay them a fixed salary you can then maybe get some jb per each new fw update. FYI some stuff that is found in older fw CAN be used and is used in newer fw since they have not been patched and thus is part of the reason, to save what you have and release to as many people as possible. hacking and jb is a community driven thing to help many not a few.

I also think you should release your own jb since you know their skills are lacking.

Well if they release it now Apple can update 7.1 and plug the holes and the developers will have to find new ones which could take a long time (if ever). At the end of the day they could be just motivated by money which is fair. The more people that jailbreak, the more that are likely to donate.

Its easy to talk smack from the sidelines.
If you think its that easy and simple then you go for it and give us a JB for 7.0 and 7.1 and then 7.2
The way I think it will be from now on will be one JB per new ios version if we're lucky. The days where they JB every other firmware update are over. Apple stepped up their game big and now needs lots of work and multiple exploits for a JB that would cover most idevices.

What you fail to appreciate (besides the incredible amount of time and energy spent on developing a stable JB to begin with) is that the longer the devs wait to release the JB, the better it is for everyone. If they release the JB on 7.0.1 then Apple is likely to patch whatever exploits were used when they release 7.0.2. So not only are people who have 7.0.2+ screwed, but anyone who opts for the 7.0.1 JB is screwed from being able to upgrade to the later firmware revisions (some of which can be very desirable).

It's not wise yet since they still haven't gone through the new update to check if holes were closed or not.




EDIT: MuscleNerd updated later on the day I posted and said that if you are w/ an iOS7 device then you can update to 7.0.3, if you have anything lower than 7 then don't update if you want a jb.

yes, but 7.1 would cover a much larger audience than 7.0, 7.0.1, 7.0.2, and 7.0.3 would, especially when you consider the high demand and low supply of the new iphones and ipads

At 7.1 the fw will be more stable and will take longer for 7.2 to be released than all this 0.0.0 mini updates we get in the first few weeks so it's better to wait for a stable and properly working update so that then they can release a jb for it.

So I just got a replacement iPhone 5 at 6.1.4 and I think it's good if @ih8snow can manage to release a JB for that firmware. But here's what concerns me, if I choose to stay at 6.1.4 then Apple could possibly release for example 7.0.4 and if that one closes the JB windows then I might be stuck on iOS 6 and will never see an iOS 7 JB on my current iPhone 5.
So, how would you do if you were in my situation?

Have you even dealt with software or coding? You would see it's not something easy to do, especially when it concerns an entire OS

They certainly are little in numbers, but they are no amateurs. You're comparing a group of 5 people vs the whole company of engineers at apple

If I recall correctly, they didn't give any updates at all for the iOS 6 jailbreak and only started giving updates this year because we appreciate them updating us

As already stated, many of us probably don't like waiting, and if you think jailbreaking an iOS version is as easily as you think, then make your own private one. One you will just use for yourself and not release it in public and not have to worry as much about the exploits being patched up. Just make sure it's a stable jailbreak

Perhaps you need to consider that every jailbreak release closes more and more loopholes. As time goes on with less and less holes to poke through it gets harder and harder to jailbreak. Also with every major iOS release apple usually adds even more security measures to ensure no one is running unsigned code. This is why you haven't seen a bootrom exploit in years.

Bad point you are making, that single guy had plenty of holes to shoot at, now those 'old' guys are looking for needle in a stack of needles.

So while the tried and true algorithm may get them a sure fire bet at 17 moves, if put through computer software to optimize it may be done in 7 or 9.

These guys are hindered by their algorithm.
And like I said, if a new group were to rise, they may be able to do it in far less time if they brought a better algorithm to the table.

Thank god we could update. I was on ios 7.0 and the animations were horrible. 7.0.3 with the fade effect makes my phone feel brand new again.

I cant wait for JB to release. Im praying Zephyr and Color profiles are updated instantly. Last yr they were with the 5, and I donated 100$ to them. Love my iPhone with those 2 tweaks.
