future responses will not be seen by these eyes . have fun talking about ios7, macbooks, iphones, and whatever else is important to you nerds. that must be sooooo fun and a great way to spend your precious years away. when im 80 in an armchair and im lookin back on my adventures, im gonna take pride in the countless hours i spent talking about iphones. peace

4 months? Make it 4 years better:D

Great! Come back when you start having your voice changes.

But if i want to jailbreak in the future, can I stay on ios 6.1.2 until a jailbreak is released and then update to whatever ios 7.x available at that time, or should I better update now to 7.0.3?

That's the dilemma for those of us still on 6.1.x.

If the JB developers wait until Apple releases 7.1, they may discover that Apple closed the hole. They could then release a JB for 7.0.3. Great for those already on 7.0.3... but for those of us on 6.x, we're locked out because the only version available at that point will be 7.1.

Except for that GENERALLY they can tell in advance of the launch (usually by the time the GM is seeded, if not earlier) if the loophole has been closed.

If it has, quickly update to the still signed 7.0Whatever, in advance of 7.1's official release and you'll be fine.

If I still had an iPhone jailbroken on 6 I'd just keep it for now until circumstances forced otherwise. 7 is perfectly nice and all, but I'd still prefer jailbroken 6 vs non jailbroken 7.

Worst case scenario you can always keep the jb on 6. But that would be the worst case, and it'd be unlikely given history if you WANTED to upgrade to 7.1 but they closed 7.03 and 7.1 was fixed.

Keep it for now. It'll be ok.

They never said they'll wait for 7.1.

The JB is not ready. So all of the above is academic.

Oh sorry I misread it as they said they're waiting for 7.1

I honestly don't see the need for a jailbreak any more. iOS 7 have everything I used to jailbreak for??

The ONLY reason I am hanging on my the JB on my Ipad3 is for xbmc. I have been sorely tempted to update to 7.0.3, but hate to lose xbmc.

iOS 7 does have some nice features, but still not as good as:

  • LockInfo
  • BiteSMS
  • iLux
  • 3GUnrestrictor
  • Winterboard

None of those apps adds anything needed anymore if you ask me. But we all have different needs of course
