Another thing I just realized is that the stock Apple buds don't give you sound or comfort fatigue like other in-ear buds do.

For example the typical in-ear buds like the Beats by Dre and its clones do sound better because of noise isolation, but think about that isolation. It feels like your ears are too plugged up and the sound pocket is overwhelming. It gets intense after awhile. You can't listen for too long until you feel like you want to take them out and let your ears "breathe."

Not to mention you have to clean your ears with Q-tips every day cuz of all the grease and sweat that happens from the isolations cups.

As far as sound, that booming bass is more like a condensed tunnel/pocket of intensity and is not as pleasurable as feeling the bass in your whole body from speakers. When i take them out, it feels like my ears have been bombarded with intensity in an unhealthy way.

With the Apple buds, I never get uncomfortable or need to take them out. That might be a reason why they are stock.. Because they don't fatigue people.

I actually find them quite uncomfortable to wear. I used to use them all the time with my nano until they broke, and I could never listen for more than half an hour. Now I have in-ear earphones that fit correctly and I can listen to music all day (and they aren't flat and tinny).

Speak for yourself....i dont like em and much prefer the in ear buds. Saying earbuds fatique you is really odd.

Lol why did you quote me to just to say that my arch nemesis? I WAS speaking for myself.

Speak for YOURself. :)

Also I listen to a lot of bass heavy music so I am more likely to get overwhelmed.

I think the people who find that they don't "fit" their ear just have smaller or bigger ears than the stocks were designed for (not Apples fault). My ear lobes are highly compatible with the stock buds.

Nice try boss.king. But you are the one on my ignore list now ;)

I really like the apple buds, great sound quality for stock buds, I wouldn't be upset if they changed the color to black though...

I did, i dont like em and as far as those type of buds go, i think Creative buds sound better than Apples but of course those are uncomfortable over time as well and much prefer the in ear buds.

Not sure why you feel the need to defend Apple saying its not their fault.....lol.

Sometimes I just leave the stock buds in my ear even when not listening to music or anything just so I don't have to untangle the wires after putting them in my pocket and taking them back out or something.

They just hang there sometimes for no reason because they fit that well. I guess my ear lobes are blessed.

I'll be honest, the only time I use them is when I'm doing chores around the house and am watching the kids. Their open air nature makes it easy for me to listen to my podcasts/audiobooks and still hear the kids if they're talking to me (3.5yr old) or crying (the baby) and the play/pause button and mic are great for when I have to take calls or dish out some discipline.

The stock buds are great for spoken word but absolutely awful for music. Personally, I don't find them that comfortable but I've had a lot worse buds in my ears.

I wear mine everyday. I do actually swap the ears they go in. They seem to fit and feel better that way.

i've never used them. they've never stayed in my ears properly and are just uncomfortable to me. but i know other people who love them. the apple in-ear headphones work well for me though.

I can use them for a while, but after 30 minutes or so they hurt my ears. I mainly use earbuds with padding. Not only are they comfortable, but keeps out some of the background noise.

apple buds or beats by dre: both have their reasons for suckiness

etymotic er4S + comply foamies = bliss

So they don't create that headache inducing, ear numbing "mini-cave" feeling with the sound?

I thought it was an inherent downside of sound isolation technique.

I have the Beats by Dre earbuds and I prefer the stock Apple ones over that crap. It's amazing how much crap costs.. $180 compared to $30 or FREE w/ your iPhone.

Good thing I didn't pay for neither. And the Beats, I gave those to my 8 year old brother.
