How are you guys with the 2010 model not having problem with heat. My MBA get hot when watching videos and get slow and laggy. It even worse when using FaceTime.

I know what your saying on Lion but I just want to check it out.

I was able to redownload it for free and I'm installing now. One of the neat things about having the older Air is that I can simply go back to Snow Leopard if I really dislike Lion and it's issues.

The hottest my 2010 MBA has ever run is 80C with Skype, after installing CoolBook and undervolting, it runs Skype fairly cooler at 73C. The C2D doesn't ramp TurboBoost up to 2.9GHz, so it runs cooler, but slower than Sandy Bridge under heavy load.

deff go 2011 air. even basic scrolling in heavy pages like IGN and Youtube are ALOT smoother. you won't regret it. plus you will turn on your backlit keyboard and be like ... Nice!!!!

I just got the 2010 Mac Air and my web pages scroll smooth as silk--even on heavy content pages.

If you do want/need more processing power (or really like the backlit keyboard) then the new one is the obvious choice...

I'm debating about getting the 2010 model myself instead of the 2011. I can get a refurbished 2010 with 128 gig drive or the 2011 with and 64 gig drive for the same $950. By the way I thought the 2010 had a back lite keyboard?

2010 doesn't.

Thanks. This will be my first Mac so I'm still educating myself. Gonna get something in about 2 weeks. I've had IT friends try and convince me windows is the way to go and others say take the plunge with apple. One thing I hate about windows is that iTunes bogs down my computer like hell.

for what its worth pm, i know i guy who has a 4 month old air, and he would gladly trade an iPhone 4 for it, if that tells you how bad he wants one. and its got a 128 ssd, something tells me its fast. even trade, yes i know he is a moron.

Having owned the 2010 MacBook Air 11" 126GB model since day one and switching to the 2011 version roughly 2 weeks back I haven't noticed too much difference.

Not sure if it is the extra 2GB RAM or CPU but day to day use is snappier in terms of loading applications. They don't really bounce where they did a little on the older model.

In reality there is only one things that stops me saying there isn't any different for you typical 'low power' user like me... the backlit keyboard. Having not owned a laptop with a backlit keyboard before I am now in love :D
