so I have noooooo clue what people are talking about from 2016 to 2017 being a different keyboard
probably just tolerance differences, which Is usually the case even within the same generation.. I noticed no difference aside from control key having that extra symbol on it playing with a 2017 briefly at Best Buy (and comparing it in my head to my 2016 nTB)

I can only comment on mine: the 2017 keyboard has a different feel and sound (less noisy) to it. If this is representative or just a variation between products, I cannot tell.

Typing on it is not as "harsh", i.e. on the old one I always felt I am hitting on glass (like typing on an iPad). The 2017 gives you a "softer landing". This is just my opinion, nothing scientific.

I agree. Even though I don't use new MBP at all, we have a few of them in our company. 2016 keyboard feels harder, stiffer, and is more noisier. Kinda hard to explain it since english isn't my native language, but there is a difference. And we had a lot of stuck keys on 2016 version. Some keys were more clicky then others, some sounded different then others, etc.
With 2017, everything works like a charm, and keyboard feels really great to type on. And no problems at all. So far at least
