I now will have to play with a 2017 mbp at some point to see if i can tell the difference between my 2016 and it

Curious

so I have noooooo clue what people are talking about from 2016 to 2017 being a different keyboard

probably just tolerance differences, which Is usually the case even within the same generation.. I noticed no difference aside from control key having that extra symbol on it playing with a 2017 briefly at Best Buy (and comparing it in my head to my 2016 nTB)

I can only comment on mine: the 2017 keyboard has a different feel and sound (less noisy) to it. If this is representative or just a variation between products, I cannot tell.

Ah, noise I can see.

My 2016 is quite loud in quiet environments, sounds like I’m going crazy on it.

In a busy coffee shop/most settings though, non-issue

But i was always surprised by that, glad they addressed it

IN what sense does it feel different? More travel?

Typing on it is not as "harsh", i.e. on the old one I always felt I am hitting on glass (like typing on an iPad). The 2017 gives you a "softer landing". This is just my opinion, nothing scientific.

Interesting

Thx

Do you think these fixes from previous to current one, is enough to make non believers believers of the new keyboard/

Or haters still most likely gonna hate?

Ie beyond observing the difference, is it significant for you?

@Frankfurt

I agree. Even though I don't use new MBP at all, we have a few of them in our company. 2016 keyboard feels harder, stiffer, and is more noisier. Kinda hard to explain it since english isn't my native language, but there is a difference. And we had a lot of stuck keys on 2016 version. Some keys were more clicky then others, some sounded different then others, etc.

With 2017, everything works like a charm, and keyboard feels really great to type on. And no problems at all. So far at least :)
