I have an iPhone 14 Pro Max with at battery health of 77%. I also have AppleCare+ so I know that the battery replacement is free.

My question is, do they have to ship your phone back to Apple in order to replace the battery? Or is it done in the Apple Store?

I don't mind them shipping it if I really had to, but I would be without a phone for however long it took and that would be very inconvenient.

Nope, but it might depend on battery stock. I just had a 13P battery replaced under AC+ at local Apple Store this past weekend. It took about 2 hours from drop off appt to pick up.

initiate a support ticket for battery replacement and chose in store, that should tell you right then and there if your local store has batteries in stock. We did my wife's 13 mini a few months ago in store, took 1 hr.
I'd personally not send it in as it likely take a week or so, ship, replace battery, ship back ...

Good idea! I will do that. Thank you!
