do you think they will also make a iphone mini?along with the iphone 5/4gs

Rest assured, all Hell will break loose if no new iPhone is introduced this year.

I know it won't happen but I want a redesign. The current one just isn't practical. It might well be gorilla glass but glass is glass lol

They HAVE to release a new iPhone, and the HAVE to announce it soon.
A lot of people, like me, have bought an iPhone 3GS on it's release date. These people are all up for contract renewal this month and are going to want a new phone. Apple wants these people to get another iPhone, but nobody is going to choose a phone that was released a year ago when there has been a yearly release every year so far.

AT&T has migrated from a "static" business model when it comes to upgrades, to a "dynamic one".

What this means is that your account is constantly being reviewed automatically via computer. One you meet a certain preset criterion, they move your upgrade edibility closer to your purchase date of the last phone purchased on that line. Taking into consideration many factors unlike the past where it just a flat number of months, till you were eligible. The more money you spend, the more active lines you have, the type of phone (feature phone, smartphone, or iPhone) you have on your lines etc.

I'm up to five lines on AT&T since I got tired of swapping sims between my various new phones. Since activating that number of lines a few years ago, I've been able to get full upgrade pricing just about whenever I want to buy a new phone (every 8 to 12 months on average). Having been with AT&T and Verizon both for over a decade, that entitles me to excellent service, great pricing and unlimited data plans, as all I use are smartphones.
Wow, I'd hate to see your monthly phone bill. You might want to talk to the president about helping with the national debt. ;)

i didnt want to wait with my blackberry...thus i got a 4, also got an ipad 2 earlier this year...but i never had the ipad 1 or the 3Gs so dont feel bad about it

Oh I hope instead that they actually make the phone bigger. The eyes aren't as good as they used to be and those Android or 5" Dell Streak Screens would be just about right for me. 3.5" diagonal is getting as tired as the eyes. :apple:

No, we know no information. No one here really does or will ever know about the new iPhone(s) or Apples true plans.

Sometimes a lucky one of us does have some leaked/rumor information and it ends up on the home page of MR. Try that next time.

I think they will change the screen-size, which doesn't mean to change the phone size itself. (maybe you happened to see some rumor-pictures. at least - they're just rumors, but who knows, maybe they're true :) ). with new apps like "iWork" or "iMovie" it would be nice to see a bigger screen.

a better camera would be very nice too, not only with more megapixels, but as a whole better product. the screen-quality of the picture/video on the phone itself wouldn't change that much, but if the camera improves that much, using it for serious vacation-movies or youtube-videos would become an option. shooting 1080p videos with an iphone and watch them on a 27'' iMac would be just great. of course a phone can't replace a 3000 dollar camera these days.

in my mind, the iphone 4 with 5 mp and 720p quality has some problems with unusual light conditions or fast movements. using it for serious video-shooting: well, it's up to you.

because the new iphone wasn't announced at the WWDC, it's likely, that we'll see an iPhone 5 this fall, shipping together with iOS 5. i totally agree, that apple has to do a lot of major upgrades on this new iphone (like processor, design, camera, etc.). if they don't, it would be just awfull to let us wait that long for just a "refresh". as mentionned before, there are a lot of people who bought an iphone 4, and there are a lot of people who didn't and they're waiting so far for the iphone 5 coming out.

So get the streak. Its way too big to be called a phone. Stop trying to ruin one of the few phones who actually want to retain a phone size instead of riding the "bigger is better" train.

Eat too many sour patch candies? .. .. Chill, size queen! :D

I'm an iOS fanboy who longs for the best of both worlds in the next Apple gizmo. Gimmee something a little bigger than the phone (that's still a phone), but smaller than the iPad. The Streak's size or maybe a tad smaller would be ideal - but whatever. I'm not ready to abandon iOS for Android because my eyes are a little tired of 3.5".

I think Apple is planning to increase view-able area on the next gen phone without actually increasing the form factor, so we'll both probably be happy ... as long as you stay away from the candy.

I don't want my screen size to be bigger than my penis.

8MP main camera
If you've got an iPhone 4, you'll probably stick with it unless you have to have the higher processing and cameras.

It's been partially addressed already but why do people want more megaixels?

More MP give you the following 3 benefits:
1. The ability to make larger prints while retaining image quality
2. Larger on-screen image (although the mp count of cameras has far exceeded screen resolution anyway)
3. The ability to crop extensively

Higher pixel density (more MP on a given sensor size) also gives you more image noise. Beyond a certain threshold and all other things being equal MORE MEGAPIXELS RESULTS IN POORER IMAGE QUALITY.

the more megapixel's the clearer the image is

No. Completely incorrect. You're talking about focus.

The larger the sensor and smaller the MP, the better the digital camera. In Apple's case, I think they are taking higher MP cameras and then tailoring the software to reduce the MP so overall size of the images is smaller than it's native pixel size.

You're getting closer but you need to factor in focal length.

http://www.dpreview.com/learn/?/Glossary/Optical/Focal_Length_01.htm

In order to use a larger sensor you need a bigger (read: longer) lens. On an iPhone that means you need to add thickness.

We're probably going to get an 8 MP camera because the market expects it. However, it's not going to provide any advantage. At best it will be a lateral move and possibly a downgrade.

@Jimmy James
I do agree that a better camera can do more things such as better crops, larger prints, and better post-processing capability.

Sensor sensitivity is the leading cause for noise on digital cameras, not the stated pixel count. I just stated the camera was 8MP but the sensor looked larger so that's why I'm thinking raw pixel count is higher.

The more MP stated means larger resolution of the image. Clarity is all due to the lens and the sensitivity of the sensor.

Focal length has little to do with mobile phone photography. While it's great that you can get a low F stop lens in DSLR tech, the lenses used for mobile telephony photography are completely different. The closest approximation is a pancake lens but even that falls short of what is used on the tiny cameras since they are designed to be flat and small. I wouldn't say that the camera is a lateral move if it had more MP but it would be incremental to a small degree. I don't make the rules of the game, I just read them as I see them.

I guess you answered your own question!

Can't wait for September (can't believe i'm saying that, because college starts then)

thanks and i cant wait either but the only thing i really want in it is the led notifications on the front

This.

That's the last thing I've been waiting for on my "list of things I want on my iPhone".

Notification also when the screen is off

Agree! Also for me this is of utmost importance: That we can see notification signs also when the screen is turned off, if I have understood this correctly. It will be good not to have to do something (touch the screen, for instance) and still see a notification. Hope that will be the state of affairs!
