.....We don't need to build them a stadium to have them here, they already have one--it just isn't good enough for them, apparently, and that I have a problem with.

I agree with you, but the problem is that the NFL realizes that cities with teams are easily coerced into paying for a new stadium. So it's pay up! or maybe they'll move to......say, Omaha

I personally hate sports. Its a money/fame machine, which would be fine if it wasn't for how stupid ridiculous the fans get.

I've always said sports brings out the worst in people, and it does. Look at that poor Giants fan who was beaten in to a coma. I hope the guys who did it to him get life in prison. Its a freaking GAME, nothing more.

I live in Pennsylvania and you have both the Pittsburgh nuts and the Penn State nuts and both camps disgust me. You have people running around boohooing and throwing temper tantrums in public places if something bad happens in a game. I don't get violent if I am playing a video game, and I'm actually playing it not watching someone play it.

Then take a look at the Penn State scandal going on. I've lost friends over that thing because I said everyone involved should be canned, including those who didn't do enough. I had former friends screaming at me on the phone because of their blind love for Penn State and Joe Paterno (who NONE of them knew personally!). There was a riot at Penn State main where property was damaged, there were people crying and boohooing, but not for the victims, it was because Joe Paterno was fired. Freaking ridiculous and disgusting. Don't even get me started on the school covering everything up to keep their precious sports cash cow from being harmed.

Lastly, people turn sports in to something it isn't. A friend of mine is an excellent example of it. She's completely blind when it comes to any sport. She thinks its about passion, and the love of the game, and sportsman ship, yadda yadda yadda. No, its about money. Take the money away and I'm sure you won't have teams out there playing, coaches coaching, etc. Sure there will be a few exceptions but not many I guarantee it.

Ok I'm done ranting. I just never understood how people get so wound up in a game that they aren't even playing.

I'm an NY fan. I don't "Care" about sports as in it really doesn't make much of a difference to me one way or the other.

If I can catch a Jets game though (hasn't happened this season except once) I will. Basketball, I haven't watched really since I was a kid in the Ewing / Starks / Oakley days. I was always a basketball / football player though.

Too much about whining too little about the sport to me.

I think Sports are a positive for any kid growing up ... and when our Blue Jays won back 2 back World Series ... the city was electrified.

Count me in as a Big Sports fan

Not in the slightest. I enjoy playing some sports, especially hockey, but I can't make what a bunch of people running around in a field relevant to my life. I never watch sports, I'd rather be learning or reading.

I don't see how other people can make these things relevant to their lives, but no judgement. To each their own.

The extent to which I enjoy professional sports is the extent to which I can enjoy watching them with friends. That's all. Otherwise, not really. I can yammer about football and baseball scores, but only because my workmates talk about them.

:)

I'm finding it exceedingly difficult to enjoy a bunch of millionaires play a game, then complain how poorly they are being paid. Basketball players have whined that their paychecks are insulting and they need to put food on the table. Football players sign contracts for millions and then hold out the next season for more money.

I've started enjoying college sports more and more, as you can see these athletes are hungry to perform and don't have any near the same ego and arrogance that pro players have

This is pretty much my exact feeling on the whole thing. I've never been any sort of sports fan. In the past few years, I've started watching some college football, but mainly just my college's team. I'll watch some other games that seem to be interesting to me (like the SEC championship tomorrow), but that's about it.

I'll go to baseball games sometimes, just cause it's nice to sit out in the park, grab a hot dog and a beer, and watch the game. I'd probably never watch it on TV. I prefer the minor league teams though. Something about a $8 ticket and free parking to pretty much get the same thing you get for a $40 ticket and $12 parking, and the atmosphere at the park is much nicer, I think.

As for other sports, I'll watch them sometimes, but mostly just in social situations. Golf and NASCAR (especially NASCAR) are completely off the list though.

Minor league games are great. You get some off the wall promotions and between-inning contests and other fun. Our minor league team has a race with people dressed up in giant eyeball costumes. It's sponsored by an eye clinic, so they dress up as eyeballs. One blue, one green, and one bloodshot.

I'm a much bigger college fan, but I'll watch pro if there's nothing else on.

Crappy sports > no sports at all

I like motorsport and cycling but really other than that I'm not interested. If other people like it then that's okay with me.
