I always carry a microfiber cloth with me. I get the really thick soft ones that comes 5 to a package from Frys....I moisten one tip of the microfiber with plain water. Make a few passes across the screen, and then dry it off with the dry portion.

I hate smudges.

Back in the steam-age and vacuum-tube days of yore no gentleman would dream of leaving the house without a freshly laundered cotton or linen handkerchief in his pocket. And when not being used in its (somewhat disgusting) intended role as a portable and recyclable mucus container - the good old hankie provided a convenient duster, sunhat, arm sling, tourniquet, and ad-hoc bandage. Us modern-day day chaps, being less likely to be punched in the nose by random cads, can get by with its high-tech equivalent - the microfiber cloth.

I always take along a microfiber cloth, especially if I'm going to be away from home or office for more than a couple of hours with my devices.

The good thing about the microfiber cloths is that they can be incredibly useful for cleaning OTHER things: Things like my sunglasses, computer monitor screens, the lens and viewfinder of my cameras, the screen on my iPod Touch, the rearview mirror in my car, or the face of my (analog, mechanical) watch.

Microfiber cloths safely remove all but the most stubborn smears and grease, along with dust and stray hairs, from just about any sensitive shiny surface. As long as you don't use it on items that can pick up grit or other abrasive matter, you can move it from device to device without worry. Gently launder every month or two or as needed.

I actually picked up a 3 pack of sizable microfiber cloths from the automotive section at walmart, for like 4 bucks. They are actually large enough one could wrap the entire iPad up in one. I keep one in my iPad case, one by my desk, and the third one I have not as of yet unwrapped.

No but agreed prints are a PITA.

I have a case of Zagg wipes I use to "demuck" the screen once a day or every other, depending on if my kids get ahold of my iPad.

I'm torn on this. I feel like carrying a cleaner with me will encourage obsessive screen wiping, which might lead to higher probability of scratches. In reality, I feel the iPad 2's screen is very easily cleaned by washing your hands and then just kind of rubbing off all the more obnoxious marks.

This is probably the best way--the more you travel around with a screen cleaner, the more crap it will pick up than can scratch your screen.

No, i never carry a microfiber cloth. If you leave the smart cover on for a while it does a good job except for the lines where it does not touch the screen. Also every house im in, i just go to the kitchen and ask for a microfiber cloth, its common kitchenware.

Only if im gonna go on an extended hotel visit or something, id probably pack a kitchen microfiber cloth :) heck you can find it in the grocery store if you forgot ^_^

Really? must try this with the smart cover over the weekend. And yes, I do have a microfiber cloth with my iPad and will travel with one too. Fingerprints are indeed a P.I.T.E., but now this gives me even more reason NOT to get some kind of shield. I've spent enough $ on accessories.
