It is generally not recommended to charge a phone for longer periods of time with certain cases because of the heat that is bad for the battery. I just got an Apple Silicone case for my 6S, so I was wondering should I take it off before charging during the night?

I know this is one of those topcis where everyone has their own opinion and that there are people who just don't think about it and there are people who pay attention to everything, but still, reading other people's thoughts helps. Thx.

No.

No cases. I hate cases. Don't use them, don't want them. No.

I charge my phone without a case because I don't use cases.

I specifically asked if you charge your iPhones with cases on - and I think it was logical to assume the question was directed towards the people who use cases on their iPhones. Don't take this the wrong way, but your personal feelings towards cases in general are, well, of no interest to me. :)

No.

And I use a case. Never had my phone feel but slightly warm so there is no reason to remove my case for charging. I do use the small block charger (supplied) to charge as I am in no hurry for my phone to charge while I am sleeping!

Thanks. Yes, I also use the supplied charger (mine is the European flat charger, but it's the same thing). Still, it can get a bit warm during charging - especially between 60-80%. After that, the charging is slower (to preserve the battery, as it is more sensitive when 90% full) so the phone gets cooler again. I guess it is ok to charge it with a case - after all, the Smart Case is designed to be charged while it's on the iPhone (the iPhone gets charged first). So, I guess if that thing doesn't bother it, the ordinary silicone case, made out of the same material, is fine too.

Yep, betting all will be good. Apple would not sell a case that harmed the phone while charging.

Enjoy!

No one has ever accused me of being logical - despite occasional lapses of logic.

I leave the Magpul Bump case on my phone while charging and it never gets overly warm. However, I top the charge off on my phone often during the day as I am close to my computer.

I never take my phone off the case when charging.

That being said, I generally don't leave my phone unattended when charging (leaving the house, etc).

Shouldn't be a problem. I keep my phone in a BookBook case which includes a removable shell while charging.
Apple would give a warning if it were to cause any problem.

Yeah, some time I does charge my phone in case. Though it looks so cheap to carry this luxurious piece in that case but it helps me to get it charged while I use it.

I recharge my iPhone in it's case. The case is an Otterbox Defender, and it would be WAY too complicated to take the phone out for charging ;)

I charge my 6+ with the Incipio case on every other night. I've never noticed it being more than a tiny bit warm. I have always charged all of my iPhones/iPads while still in their cases. It would be a major hassle to remove them from the case each time they needed charged, and I really don't see any point in doing so.

I think I have removed my iPad 3rd gen from it's Otterbox Defender case twice the entire time I have had it just to clean stuff off. Same thing with my 6+, I think I have taken the Incipio case off of it twice since I got it to clean stuff off, and then it goes right back in the case.

If Apple made the battery charging circuit so close to the edge of causing damage/fire that leaving a case on could cause an issue we would be hearing about it all the time. People in warmer climates without cases on would have issues, people that left their phone charging in the car would he reporting all kinds of issues/fires etc.

I have never taken my phone out of it's case to charge. The only time I take my phone out of it's case is when I'm switching it into a different case!

+1

I also have that case and typically charge my 6 overnight (every night) while in the case - no issues so far. And yes, that would be a nightmare to take it out of that case every night to charge.

I don't use a case that much but when I do and I need to charge the phone I don't take the case off. For what it is worth I use an Air 2 charger.
