Ok maybe I'm a little more attached to mine than most but I love exclusivity of it.

It's a cable, and exclusivity??? really??
Sorry, statements like that give the perception that you're better than others... just because of a cable..

They can't easily make knock offs anymore.
They are out already, how hard can it be to buy one, take it apart, and make a new one from it?

Makes me feel like I have a pretty exclusive cable with a special chip and all!
Again this "exclusive" statement. I am so glad I never came to this site before I got my Mac and iPhone, statements like this make me want to hide the fact I have an iPhone.

At first i thought this thread was a joke, but i realise now its not. Sometimes I think people might need to splash a bit of cold water on their face and go outside for some fresh air.

It's a fracking CABLE. What is so exclusive about a cable that cost maybe $1 to make and which millions of people own? If I found myself ever posting statements like this, it would be time to seriously reevaluate my life...

I like my cable a lot - mainly because I only have one and it goes everywhere with me!

No, but I covet the cable of the person who has a second or third lightening cable since I have only the one. :)

This phenomenon amongst iPhone users is something I've never in my life seen with any other product.

Got some pretty weird people around here.

I'm not saying people are weird but I wonder if this phenomenon is related to the perceived decline of the brand and desire to hold on to whatever can differentiate Apple from the rest of the world.

This thread is strange. It's a cable. It does nothing that the other one didn't do. I guess I just don't really care. I don't make love to it. Or sit and stare and smile at it. Talk to it, stroke it. It's a cord lol

LOL. This thread made my day... especially this ^

goes both ways

Honestly the only thing I "covet" about the new cable is that it can go into the phone facing either direction: no more needing to turn on the screen to see which way to connect the cable before bed - that's about it.

Tell you what I DONT like...the setup to connect my phone to my car. As a result of the new cable it's gotten silly.
Cable from radio is firewire pinned from the original ipods - so I convert that so that I can charge my old iphone 3/4 etc using scosche passport. However, now I have the 5, and I have not been able to locate a firewire to lightning adapter, so I slapped a 30 pin to lightning adapter on top of the scosche passport.

Not complaining - if I werent a lazy bastard I'd install a head unit with bluetooth but I'm just WAY too lazy.

Ahem. You can only covet that which you don't have. For example: Millions of people coveted the iPhone 5 before it was released.

You have to remember the OP has had some classic threads such as "Does my iphone look bent?" or "The Apple genius gave me a dirty look", or his latest classic "Dead serious, my iPhone 5 weighs more than specified"

OK...that explains a lot.

That being the case, this obsessive concern over a cable is both understandable, and almost not totally nuts.

Almost...;)
