I find your post offensive. Listen, I've seen many people most a lot of crap on this forum over people asking honest questions and my thread ain't gonna be one of them. If you have nothing positive or nice to say, be considerate and don't post at all. This is a serious thread with a serious question. It's people like you that make people hesitant to even post topics on this forum without being insulted.

wow, doesn't take much to be offensive does it?

I thought it was funny and I think threads with a few funny AND enlightening posts are a good. It can also keep more people interested in reading the thread which of course helps you answer your serious questions.

This forum runs deep on sarcasm too so just beware when reading posts that you think might be offensive- often times are sarcastic or just people stating the obvious.

Also, I happen to think that moisture and electronics usually don't play nice together...so maybe dry your hands before using the trackpad would be a good thing?!?

I seriously don't get why half you retards have to poke fun at the OP. Got nothing better to do?

I have this problem all the time (hyperhidrosis), when it's really bad it can get quite uncomfortable on the tips of the fingers and feels like your pulling the skin of the fingers. Besides keeping tissues around to soak up the puddles, I find that bending your fingers and using the knuckle below the nail helps, especially for scrolling.

My thoughts exactly. Ignorance is bliss.

@flyfish29 - nope, doesn't. I'm surprised this thread continues on with people insulting each other when they don't even know the other person!

@xi mezmerize ix, @MBHockey and @kny3twalker - try being a bit more mature and have decent respect for each other as a person and have a little leeway for understanding before biting each other and you won't end up looking like 12 year olds insulting each other on a game.

The friction is the first thing I noticed when I got my new MBP! I was trying to do some trackpad gestures and was having trouble.

My hands sweat a lot when its warm, so even if I wipe them on my jeans, within 10-15 seconds its back.

I am going to put a Moshi trackguard or a wrapsol cover on it and see if it helps while not decreasing the sensitivity.

Wow- you think this thread is full of insults.....have you perused other forums on other web sites where personal attacks are the norm. This is pretty tame and most members use the smiles to help convey it is playful sarcasm and harassment not meant to be personal- they are just jokes and ways of making this a little less serious in the serious world in which we live. On occasion people do personal attacks or write true insults but it is rare in this very large community on MacRumors.

By the way you don't own the thread- you started it but the community "owns" it and as long as they are following the official MacRumors guidelines then all should be good. There is a reason this forum has smiles like sarcasm , winking;), sticking out tongue:p, etc. IF you want a forum without those and a little playfulness then I guess Apple.com would be your place.

But I truly do hope you continue to frequent MacRumors because it is a very helpful resource!

As the Joker would say....

"Why so serious?"

I have to agree with this issue, and its so noticeable on a warm day like you said when things are abit sticky and sweaty, especially British Weather! Although i also have to back Apple up on this its such ahead of the crowd with their crappy plastic trackpads!

Oh yeah, I forgot about the best benefit from people posting often and joking around a bit in the forums- you get better answers from more members period! You know how many threads I have started or visited and they have one or two "answers" which are more like a suggestion but don't really answer the questions....then the thread dies because no one sees it.

On the other hand, get a thread with a few sarcastic comments and it keeps the thread at the top of the MacRumors Forum Spy page and therefore gets hundreds more views....much better answers....

and of course entertains me!:D

By the way- seriously now- I do agree that the track pad occasionally gets more friction when damp.....so I agree it is an issue- not sure what the seriousness about this topic is really but there it is- yes, I agree with you. The good thing is that it helps me know to turn up the AC a bit or crank up the dehumidifier in the basement!:D

Relax. This is the internet. There will be trolls and haters everywhere you go, on the internet. Just ignore them and move on.

As for your original question, yes there is some friction with wet fingers. But, also each spot where the water beads up, will be counted as a contact point, so your MBP might get confused, when the surface of the trackpad has water on it.

Absolutely :). I seen many topics of people's plastic trackpads becoming so worn down they were becoming less sensitive when using them. I guess because the glass trackpad has a completely smooth surface when your fingers are moist it causes quite a bit of friction. I'm not sure what the definitive solution to it is except the Moshi PalmGuard's trackpad film that is included with the PalmGuard. It's not incredibly smooth but it does eliminate problems for when your fingers are warm/moist, due to the plastic coating on the film.
