Unibody scratches easily

First thing I got with my new MBP 13 was blue Speck SeeThru case and I can strongly recommend it. All my friends have scratched their unibody cases. Also, plastic case makes it a bit thicker but its worth it. No overheating at all.

I use a neoprene sleeve when i carry it around and that also fits in any bag, but it always naked.
I don't see the point of covering it up. Apple tried to create a thin and rigid laptop and now people put a thick case around it to make it look uglier than and standard case with scratches what is the problem.
Do you also keep the plastic of your new couch so it is protected. I just think that is ridiculous unless you buy the notebook for a year and intend to sell it again.

I have 2007 MBP 17" and Speck see through case around it.
+ got no scratches on body
+ resistant to dirt and throwing smth on top of my laptop
+ highly customizable, if u want, put stickers, then remove them or just put smth inbetween the cover and actual mac. I've printed on a rare superthin japanese paper an artwork of mine and company logo I work for. Looks amazing. Everyone pays attention and says its cool
+ does not overheat
- adds weight
- adds thickness
- does not let you open screen that wide as without the case around it.

P.S. And to be more freakin' protected:
1) Have screen foil, which is cool, because I do stick my fingers and sometimes point with a pen (LOL) and I spit when I talk, too :D
2) Have a silicone white transparent keyboard protection. I eat while I work  and my keyboard looks like new. And the silicone is easy to wash with kitchen detergent time to time. If you look my keyboard silicone towards light, :apple:, Alt, Ctrl, Shift and letters ASDF JKL are super polished.
3) And then there's two parted palmrest transparent sticker together with a sticker atop of trackpad and its button. Bought in ebay. As I wear sharp chains around my wrist and sometimes scrape the laptop while rendering, to fasten the process :D then I believe it has protected well enough.
4) Around the whole laptop there's a neoprene sleeve to carry it around in an even more softness and care.

Summary - I invested into all this protection crap some days before my actual BTO laptop arrived and I believe it will increase noticeably second hand price of the kit once and if I will ever need to sell it. I believe it will remain mine forever, because it is simply amazing computer!!!

I usually just put my MBP into a sleeve when it is in transport. Other then that, it usually just sits on my desk. Thus, I don't have a case and over 4 months, no problems.

yep :)

I have that but in Black. Awesome case.

Also use one of these:

I have a MacBook 6,1 rev. no as cool as ya'll, but I have a clear incase on mine 50% of the time for travel. Adds some thickness, but it also looks nice, gives it a "brushed" look I like....

I'm jealous of you guys with your nice aluminum sometimes, but for some reason I love the white MacBook....:p

Why would you wrap a metal laptop in plastic? Are you also the type of person with plastic wrap on furniture?

I'm most likely to damage mine during transport, and an incase sleeve and a good backpack offers good enough padding. Mines over 2 years old now, and it still looks pretty much new.

Here's my Tucano Second Skin neoprene folder. Real easy to take my MBP in and out. I carry this and some other stuff in a messenger bag so it's well protected.
FYI: It serves me well as a hot pad so my MBP doesn't cook my legs.

Yup, slapped a Speck See Thru Satin on it the day I bought it. I work on industrial construction sites 3-4 days per week and my MBP gets placed on top of all sorts of crud when I have to make an impromptu workspace.

I'd much rather replace the Speck case than spring for a new Unibody case. My laptops take a beating.

Also put a Moshi palmguard on it. My caustic sweat or whatever ate away most of the finish on my older non-Unibody MBP. I don't want a repeat of this.
