No reason we should get compensated for pre ordering but I am going to raise hell over upgrade fees AT&T charged after sending me a text saying they would be waived. Morons!

AT&T said my upgrade fee would be waived as well.. so if they charge me I'll be calling up asking them to waive it as they promised.

man you guys must really love AT&T and Apple when it is in fact their fault for making this process UNPLEASANT and a DISASTER

Compensated for what exactly?

The ability to say that you pre-ordered on June 15th?

If I'm not mistaken, Apple and ATT will take pre-orders tomorrow, Thursday, Friday and maybe even the day after that!

Sure they will, Apple will send you $50 gift certificate and AT&T will give you one month of service free ... oh wait, forget about all that :)

Their system is a mess and has caused people to spend hours trying to do something that should take 10 minutes. Yes, i agree, they should waive the $18 fee. I'm going to ask them to do that for me if my phone ever gets ordered. I'm getting nervous i'll end up on a backorder and i've been at this since 5am.

The OP never mentioned entitlement, he said "compensated", as in for extremely poor service.

Huge difference, I suggest you invest in a dictionary.

Well i'm sorry im not perfect and i could care less what people on an internet message board think about me. Anyway should we be compensated for it raining outside as well? Every single little thing people seem to want to be compensated for. Life is not fair and no one ever said that it was but i suppose people didn't get the memo eh?

When is the last time a website went to sell a major product like this that didn't have major server problems? Like it or not, a few thousand people at any time trying to buy the same product and going through multiple company's servers to verify eligibility, etc is going to be a problem. I'm sure they could have purchased an extra 25 million in servers to handle the load for one day, but nobody is punishing anyone by forcing them to spend the entire day trying to get through to a website. There will be phones to preorder tomorrow.

Also, spoiler alert, there are going to be activation problems on 6/24. Deal with it.

We got free health care, why not free iTunes gift cards and waived activation fees too!

Yes maybe obuma can take one our of his stash:eek:

He will be going for cap and trade tonight so next year you will not be able to afford a new iPhone 5:(

Sense of entitlement much?

No one owes you a thing. They're not depriving you of a product, and technically, as of yet, you haven't given them a dime since they won't charge your credit card until the phone ships.

+1.... :) everyone else was doing it!

They owe you NOTHING...you could have just stood in line on the 24th.

Exactly! They are not going to run out of phones in one day. But there is a mentality of people wanting to be "First". Doesn't matter what time an order is placed today because everyone will get them on the 24th

no kidding. What a scumbag.

Am I'z gonna get paid for having to wait? You need a reality check dude no one forced you to preorder on launch day

I'd like Steve Jobs, the boss, right here tonight. I want him brought from his happy holiday slumber over there on Infinite Loop with all the other rich people and I want him brought right here, with a big ribbon on his head, and I want to look him straight in the eye and I want to tell him what a cheap, lying, no-good, rotten, four-flushing, low-life, snake-licking, dirt-eating, inbred, overstuffed, ignorant, blood-sucking, dog-kissing, brainless, d***less, hopeless, heartless, fat-a**, bug-eyed, stiff-legged, spotty-lipped, worm-headed sack of monkey s*** he is! Hallelujah! Holy ****! Where's the Tylenol?

Wow, I think the OP is getting kind of beat up unnecessarily here. I have to wonder how many of the people that are giving him a hard time were also whining and asking for the fee to be waived during the activation nightmare of the summer of '07? I know I was lol. I agree that we have wayyyy too much of a sense of entitlement in our society, but I also think it's okay to try and get that little $18 fee waived. After all, it's not uncommon for a corporation to throw the consumer a bone to try and make up for awful service.

18 Dollar fee? I didn't get an upgrade so i dont pay that fee and also with my FAN the upgrade fee gets waived. So i suppose the OP will whine about that as well

While I don't feel that I am owed anything because of this, I did get some slight compensation.

I ordered my phone thru AT&T and a bumper from Apple, but after ordering I decided I wanted faster shipping. I called Apple and she said because of my long wait I could have next day shipping free for the 4.00 price of my standard shipping.

Pretty cool IMO.

Sense of entitlement much?

Seriously. While in contrast, this thread is very mild. I doubt it's unique to Mac fans, but if the last few hours of forum posts are any indicator, Apple fans have amongst them some of the most whiney, self-centered, impatient egomaniacs I've ever seen.

Well i'm sorry im not perfect and i could care less what people on an internet message board think about me.

You cared enough to try to make yourself look smarter than you really were.

The OP isn't talking about being compensated for not being able to preorder, he's talking about being compensated for poor service. He has every right to expect REASONABLY good service and most companies worth their salt strive to provide it. And when they fail to do so, most will offer some type of compensation for the customer's trouble. Much the same way a patron of a restaurant could expect some compensation for having to wait 12 hours for a hamburger.

Hey guys, I just got a call from AT&T CEO Randall Stephenson, and he groveled to me on the phone, saying he's accepting every fault and inefficiency all the way back to when then-Cingular CEO Stan Sigman made his boring speech from cue cards during the iPhone keynote in 2007. The next two years will be free, except for tethering (he reduced it to $18 a month), and all my iPhones will be unlocked. He has further added that he will personally place Seth the Blogger Guy into a human-sized Blendtec unit and post it on YouTube.

Strangely enough, he gave me his number, but then threatened with a cease & desist letter if I called it.
