Mine's in there because I never quit it. I'm not sure if it would stay or go if I closed it. That way movies load pretty much instantaneously. Same thing with leaving iCal, Address Book, iTunes, Safari, MS Word, PS Elements, iPhoto... I just never quit them.

You don't use any heavy stuff, don't you ?

Also, if something is supposed to open with one kind of program, like VLC for example, I feel its easier just to take it and drag it to QuickTime. Yes, I am lazy...

Assuming you have the proper codecs and so forth for QT - VLC has them built in. What happens if you drag a bin/cue file into QT? Does it play it?

Yes I do have QickTime on my dock, but I have QuickTime Pro so I can use it for recording and creating and importing and so on, but when I only had the player I didn't have it on my dock.
