Any excuse to throw that into an unrelated topic huh?

Current everyday watch = Rolex, replaced by current everyday watch = Apple watch , maybe related? Unless you think that people should just keep expansive mechanical watches in a draw now that the Apple watch is out.

----------

Absolutely. It fully replaces my Fitbit which I wore every day for years.

An apple watch is an excellent replacement for these bands!

----------

I love my many Swiss Made watches as well BUT will never wear them again as I plan to wear my Apple Watch every day. Keeping just one of my Swiss Made watches.

Yes, quality is much higher than the Apple Watch but I don't care anymore, functionality is more important to me :apple::)

Can I ask which one you would keep to compliment the Apple watch?

Sure do. After my previous favorite watch was stolen, I decided to hold off on replacing it and just wait for the apple watch.

I didn't realize these forums had so many ballers

I have several watches. I plan to wear this one every day, with some of my dress watches for special occasions.

I would want to if I got one, but I love my Rolex, so I'm not getting one.

I wouldn't be proud to say that. A Rolex is useless overpriced crap compared to any other watch, Android Wear and Timex included.

I wear a $29 timex watch everyday. Have for the past 20+ years. I have plenty of money for a Rolex, but wouldn't even dream of buying one. So useless, and people would laugh at my blatant waste of money.

I would want to if I got one, but I love my Patek, so I'm not getting one.

LOL

Actually I'm wearing Apple Watch everyday since I got it.

I've not worn a watch since I was a teenager, over 20 years ago. The Apple Watch has only left my wrist for an hour a day to charge in the evening, since the 24th.

I have been wearing it since it arrived. I plan to wear it unless work or activities preclude it. To turn your question around a little bit, I would not wear a mechanical watch if I did not have a smart watch of some kind. I don't wear non-purposeful accessories and in this day and age, finding the time is just way easy even without a watch at hand.

A lot of snark here, but as someone who owns a number of nice watches (nothing too fancy, but I have a nice Nomos, Glycine, Oris, and a few other cool mechanical / vintage watches), this is interesting to me.

I had intended to use my :apple:Watch (SS, 38mm BSB) at work and for workout. I'm an MD, so the notification features are important (I hate pulling my phone out to view a text when with patients). I also exercise regularly so the fitness aspects were intriguing. I thought I'd wear my mechanical watches at night / going out / etc.

As it stands now, I hate even taking off the :apple:Watch to shower or sleep. The activity tracking is very addictive / interesting. (note... I do charge it at night while I sleep and I don't shower in it). My wife loves hers as well.

I'm honestly considering selling most of my watches (I'll keep the Nomos... way too cool). Since I don't really have any heirloom quality mechanical watches (Rolex, Patek, JLC, VC, etc) I'm not too worried about it from a long-term view.

I fully intend to wear it everyday once I get the watch which is scheduled to deliver May 14-20. It's hard to guage how comfortable it will be all day or everyday since I'm not a regular watch wearer.

I did wear a Fitbit for a few years so there wont be much of an adjustment to something on my wrist. Plus, like anything that costs more than $100 or so, I would ideally like to use it everyday. Just trying to patiently wait for the watch... which is very ahrd to do!

This is a question for those of you who own a variety of watches. Do you intend to wear your apple watch every day? Or will you continue to wear traditional watches?

If you intend to wear your apple watch every day, what will you do with all of your other watches?

If you intend to mix it up, do you think you will ever feel like you are "missing out" by not wearing the apple watch? (On things like the activity tracking, etc)

Absolutely..I'm starting to sell my watch collection.

I'll most likely wear it every day at work. I have 5 Citizen Eco-Drive's, a Longines, and one other decent watch (USMC commemorative that I got as a gift after I got out of the Corps), that I'll wear most weekends, when I don't need immediate notifications for work, and when engaged in activities that wouldn't be  Watch appropriate (formal events, yard work, etc.).

Since I don't use my iphone full time, I would probably alternate between my Moto 360 and Apple Watch. I know for sure I will geek it out and wear both (one on each wrist) at the same time on some days.

I definitely will be wearing mine daily. My boss let me try his on yesterday and I was instantly sold on it being my daily driver.

The people acting like apple watch is going to take over the watch world really are quite amusing. They said the same thing about the quartz watch, and I'm sure they said similar things when digital watches came, and then calculator watches I'm sure lol. Now, I do think it could ruin the fitness bracelet market.

Apple Watch will have it's place in the watch market, but it's just an extension of the iPhone. Let's be real here though, it's an evolution of this beauty...

I do plan on wearing it everyday, but the other watches I own are also just day to day watches, so as sad as I am not to get to wear them as much, its isn't like I'm ignoring something that I would feel guilty about.

This is an interesting problem for me too. I have owned a Withings Activité since it came out last year -- not the plastic toy version, but the stainless steel and sapphire. I love the design of it. It tracks steps and sleep, and seven months later, I haven't had to change the battery yet. And it looks like a real watch.

On the first day of Apple Watch deliveries I received the Stainless Steel version with classic buckle. I liked it, used it, took it for a run... But when it came to going to meetings, teaching, facing friends, etc, I reverted to the Withings Activite.

I work at a University, and my environment is not one where tech innovation is fetishised. I have always been an early adopter, but, somehow, the Apple watch seems like too much to explain. I like it enough, and yet I somehow don't want to be defined by it, if that makes sense. In seven months of Withings Activite, I received a number of comments on how nice my watch looks- but nobody knew I was wearing a 'smart watch' or an 'activity tracker'. It's just a watch. The Apple watch is a remarkable design achievement and yet in some sense it is still a mini iPhone strapped to your wrist.

So the solution seems obvious - as suggested in this thread: use the Apple Watch for fitness tracking, for it definitely does that better than the Withings or a non-smart watch, and then wear a less conspicuous traditional watch on social occasions. But the problem with the that is that the apps don't play nice with each other. Apple's own fitness app only scratches the surface, and the various RunKeepers apps on the Watch cannot yet make full use of the heart sensors, etc. Wear the Withings for a day, and you'll have a hole in your Apple Activity app record. Wear the Apple watch on a run, and none of your other apps will ever hear about it unless you start to manually add all the info. The dream of the quantified self is quickly becoming a fragmentary nightmare. In many ways, the whole conundrum makes me what to give up on measuring anything and just walk/run/sleep for the sake of it, as we used to do in the good old days!

Sorry, didn't mean to disrupt the flow of the 9,000 delivery tracking threads. Carry on.

If you don't intend to buy one bc of your Rolex why in the heck are you reading posts about the apple watch lol or reading posts about deliveries of something you're not interested in getting delivered...

As the next generation gets used to smart watches, they will care less about mechanical/automatic watches that only tell time. Get ready for the value of a Rolex to drop. :-(

Digital watches were going to kill the mechanical watch market too. That was 40 years ago.
