Yeah...i was going to take a pic without the magsafe but the bulge would still be there!

The case was tighter when i bought it but with time that little bulge got to be permanent. But the case is so thin, light and small that you wont even notice! I only noticed today when i took the pics :D

When i got my mba i wanted a messenger bag but the only one i liked it was the muzetto and to order it to europe...well...the price was high!

As i didnt want to buy a messenger bag that i didnt like i went for the sleeve/case solution. I dont regret it as it is very easy to transport even without any handle. Its practical!

Okay, so I just now got my Booq Viper (its spelled Viper on the packaging) case.

First off, let me say, this is a very very nice case. It is a black nylon looking material that looks very sturdy, with some small bumpers on each side. The inside is red and black, very classy.

The MBA is a perfect fit. And when I say perfect, I mean it won't fit with my Speck hardshell case installed. If you know that case, you know it adds NOTHING to the MBA, but somehow the fit is very tight. I jammed it in there and almost couldn't get it out. I took the Spec case off, and it fit in perfectly.

I put in the charger, the long cable, a WD 1TB hard drive, and a USB cable and I closed it.

It zipped fine, it wasn't hard at all.

There was the inevitable bulge, but it wasn't as bad as I expected. I am now convinced the case I want is just physically impossible. If you want to put the charger and a hard drive, both of which are thicker than the MBA itself, you will need a case where two MBAs fit, and that would make it big. I can't have a svelt , tight fitting case AND carry my charger/external HD.

But, I think I can live with this one. The bulge is slight, it closes very well, and it gives me what I believe to be the slimmest carrying solution for my MBA, charger, cables, and external HD, and it feels like it would give me reasonable protection from a drop. Not that I would test it... :D

So, I would give it 3 1/2 stars out of 5. I think it would be a love it/hate it thing for most people, but I honestly could not make up my mind until I put my hands on it. I may still return it, but for now I'll give it a shot for a day or two.

Well, after a few days of usage, the verdict is in - it's a keeper! :)

Packing the charger, external HD and cables does cause a slight bulge, but closing the Viper remains easy, the zipper does not seem strained, and it is very convenient to be able to carry everything (I was even able to fit my Superdrive in there!) in one small package.

Another plus is for day trips when I want to carry my MBA and my iPad. This case is PERFECT for those two. Obviously without the chargers, external HD and Superdrive, but sometime if I am going somewhere for a few hours and all i want to take is the devices themselves, this case carries both perfectly.

So I find the case stylish, versatile, and useful. Everything I can hope for in a case. I up the rating to 4 stars out of 5. Real leather instead of nylon and it would truly be perfect... :D

I just received it today and noticed a bulge when attempting to close it. Will this cause the MBA to dent when putting it in a backpack or messenger bag with other stuff? Also in what case would you need to bring both MBA and iPad? I ask because I have both as well and don't see me bringing the iPad outside anymore.

I went ahead and got one of these today as it was the best case the local Apple Reseller had in stock. I liked the SFBags, Air wallet but didn't want to pay that price for a case right now and wait for it to come in. So far just testing the fit I really like this Booq Viper case. I usually put my laptop or iPad in a messenger bag when I go out so I'm too concerned with getting the charger in this case. But nice that it will fit if I want to carry the Air only in this case.

I insert the thinner part, where it opens at, in first. It seems the easiest to get the Air in and out.

The thinnest part goes in first.

You know, after I posted this I went and tried it the other way around just because. It seems to fit even better, because now the thinnest part of the MBA is the one that when closed sets against the charger when I put in the bottom of one of the facing pockets. The little extra space helps make the bulge that much less noticeable.

I mean, just a LITTLE bit... :D

can anyone comment on the strength of the case in terms of how much the closed case flexes if you press down at its center (13" version)?

I bought a Hard Candy Bubble Sleeve and printed out the RMA form from Amazon almost immediately. It has way too much flex to be considered a hard case. I wouldn't feel at all confident about my MBA not getting crushed by putting it in my backpack with textbooks with the Hard Candy Bubble Sleeve, which is what I bought it for.

i am interested in knowing this too. apart from the mach 3 composites case (a tad expensive!) the viper is the only one that offers a hard shell like protection for the air. Just how rigid is it?

I just purchased one. It's definitely stiffer than the Bubble Sleeve. I feel much better about putting the MBA in this one and then into my backpack.
