Solved for me. Mine was pocket dialing emergency contacts. Look for “Emergency SOS” in settings.

Dunno about pocket dialing, but I have seen an XR that went between a bed and the wall call 911 while it was being fished out.

Of course it wouldn't budge from its hiding place until after the 911 operator picked up.

EXACTLY!!! Someone please explain this!!!!!!!

For me it is something I am doing that causes this. Often I hang up and it starts causing me to dial the next person in my favorites list. Or I sometimes put my phone in my pocket without forgetting to hit the side button so it is still active.

pocket dialing/texting shouldnt happen if you lock your phone before putting it into the pocket. it is highly improbably that you can unlock your phone while it's sitting in your pocket. if this is happening, then something is obviously very wrong,

the bigger worry is that you are inputting your pin in your pocket. this might be due to the tap to wake function. either switch that off, or face your screen outwards like some others suggested.
Yes tap to wake off and turn off returning calls from lock screen. Can also turn off raise to wake also if you want.
