I touch and tap. Whatever my hands feel like doing at the moment. I also have he bottom right enabled as a right click. A holdout from my Windows years but I like it.

It's amazing how much you can configure this thing.

GMTA? lol

I was really surprised by how quickly I got used to three-finger dragging - especially considering I've been a-clickin'-and-a-draggin' since 1985. :D

unfortunately three finger drag replace the swipe left/right to go back/foward, which I use a lot. so I'm stuck with drag lock

I have a RAT7 mouse so I use it because of all it's extra features. Also because I spend half my time either programming or gaming the choice is simple for me, mouse or get real. I do use the grackles slot when I'm out and about or just doing casual stuff but, I like tap to click.

I touch. Tapping's faster and I'd really like it except it sometimes gives the computer false positives when I'm moving my hand from the keyboard to the trackpad. The extra little bit of resistance needed for a physical click to register prevents that.

I prefer touch, but I am a switcher. A true or genuine Mac user clicks the track pad. ;) The magic mouse is helping me get over the touch feature of the track pad. I am brainwashed from Rock and Windows.

trackpad

As a newly converted PC to Mac user, I definitely like the way the trackpad works. Unfortunately, I still use a mouse ball at work, seems to be more cumbersome. Still getting used to functions on the trackpad like how do I touch to highlight text in the search or address sections?

I have a One to One appointment in 2 weeks, lots of set-up questions etc. But am loving my new Macbook Pro 13" w/a SSD!

There are a few reasons why I like tapping over clicking. I am usually in a library setting where clicking could just get annoying. I also feel like there are only so man clicks a touchpad can go through and that it causes wear and tear. Tapping also requires less energy and work. All these factors end up with my final answer of

Tapping > Clicking

Honestly i do a combo of everything..haha.
Sometimes i use a finger and touch. Sometimes i push the button. (Always have 2 finger right click enabled)
Sometimes i use both hands and move with one index and click with the other index...haha

I always have all the little goodies enabled too, like 2, 3 and 4 fingered expose options.

I try and avoid clicking where possible. I've seen a few members here with cracked track pads that scared me :)

Being new to the Mac scene, it is quick easy for me to use the click feature, but honestly I changed the preference to simply touch, just seems more natural to me. Good poll by the way.

I didn't even remember that you could click the trackpad until I read this...the tap feature is a signature part of the Apple laptops, and Lion is going to take it even a step further. I would buy an Apple simply for this trackpad as it makes life easier. You can never go back to a normal laptops trackpad after getting spoiled by the real deal :p

I just started using the "tap to click" recently (I'd forgotten this was an option on a mbp somehow).

I definitley like it. The trackpad can be somewhat hard on my hands if I use my index finger to click a lot, and so it's nice to be able to easily "click" just by tapping. So far I have noticed very few instances of accidental clicks in spite of my lack of familiarity with the tap-to-click idea.
