i dont plug in my iPhone every day, i know my gurl is still running like 1.6.4 OS on her 8GB....she didnt plug in her iPhone for like 3 months...because SHE DOESNT CHARGE VIA COMPUTER!....she charges via wall outlet...n she got all her songs on there, so she doesnt need to update...

I want the 16gig version. I have the 8gig 1st gen and it is not enough. I want more music on it,, but I also want to be able to load more apps as they become available. 32 gig would be nice...

I"m getting a 8 gig, since I already have a perfectly good Ipod, and I dont' need music/videos sucking even more power out of my phone!!!

1.6.4 eh?

the new software update is .2492 GB if you have the 8gb model thats ~3% of your capacity... this and future updates will be something to consider with disk space

If have a few more videos and more songs to load then it's totally worth the 16GB, but otherwise it's not.

I wanted 16, but they were sold out and to be honest, I don't need much music with me. I know what I want to listen to, and I rotate regularly. Currently my 8GB has 65 full CD's on it. I can handle that. I really only listen when I'm walking between classes and in between class, so maybe 2 hours a day max.

If im in the gym I wouldn't dare bring my iphone in there, and my car has sirius and MP3 CD's.

i was totally fine with my 8GB first gen. it forced me to get creative with playlists and switch up what i have loaded more often. i went from a 16GB Touch to the 8 GB and it really didn't seem that limiting to me.

i have the 16 GB white 3G now, and it's filled to the brim and of course i'm happy with the additional space, but i could live without it. i got it more because its white than because its 16 GB.

It is very easy to surpass 8gig with music or video alone. I find 16 gig way too limiting, maybe because I have an 80 gig iPod (which is full).

Right which is why many including myself need 16 gigs as we have 8-10 gigs of music/videos/podcasts with several email accounts and a good amount of apps

I won't use all 16 but I will use more than 8

Probably around 13-14 gigs

A 1 1/2 hour movie is just over 1GB - longer movies will obviously be bigger

What in the world?!

I have about 6 movies on my iphone 3g 16gb right now.... each of them is about 600mb MAXIMUM size. They look crystal clear, and the audio is perfect. Movies are each about 1.5 hours.

If you're movies are over 700mb, you need to seriously think about running them through some sort of converter to shrink the file.

Unfortunately, you have to get out of the habit of carrying all your music around with you and start using playlists to selectively load up the iPhone

I know it's just that sometimes I have to spend a few weeks away from the computer so carrying all my music around is a nice asset.

I had an 8GB original, and I was going to upgrade to a 16GB 3G, but every time I went to O2 to get one they only had 8GB 3G's. I could go on all summer trying to get one, so I just got an 8. I did want the extra storage, but after removing a load of songs I don't really listen to I am back to about 2GB's free.

My dad might be getting a 16gb though and swapping it with me as he doesn't really need the space.

i have the 8GB 3G. The decision was made because I already have a 30 GB Ipod Video. That being said, even without the Ipod I don't think I would have gotten the 16GB version of the phone because I don't like watching movies on small screens and I don't have to have a permanent Itunes library on my phone.

How many GB does a full-length movie from iTunes occupy? I'm going to be traveling soon, and I am considering purchasing a movie from iTunes so that I can watch it on the plane.

I bought the Avex DVD to ipod converter and converted a lot of my DVD movies and home videos to the ipod format. One two hour movie takes about five hundred meg. Once I convert them I import them into itunes then just swap them out once in a while:)
