only vote in the poll if you made the transition, not if you were 'thinking' about making the transition.

im really considering one, since mini won't be a thing with iPhone 14 announcement next month. Still on 12 pro though, and plan on keeping this phone regardless for a while even if a backup or secondary, or as trade fodder down the road if I upgrade to a 14 Max / 14 Pro variant / future upgrade of some kind

and where do you stand on things? haha
If you’re talking about me then:

13 PM - absurd battery life, promotion, immersive screen and great if you need one device to do everything or don’t want a tablet.

13 Mini - amazing portability

Part of the reason why I went back to a Mini is because I have to carry two phones for work (other one is an iPhone 8+ ha) so having a PM brick in one pocket and tiny 8+ in the other was super annoying and uncomfortable. I miss a lot about the PM but the weight absolutely sucks with how much I travel these days. I won’t look at another Pro model until they start reducing the weight but with prices going up it might be refurbished Mini’s on my list.

iPhone XS > 12 mini > 12 Pro (for a few days) > 13 mini

I was going to hold onto my XS for a while but knew I was getting the 12 mini when it was still just a rumor in mid-2020. The 12 mini battery was less than stellar, so I went to a 12 Pro for a few days and loved the size enough to deal with the lackluster battery. When they announced the 13 mini had a better batter than the 12 mini, I bought one on launch day.

Had a 13 mini on launch day last year until about end of December. While I liked the concept of the mini, I had a 12 the year before and loved the bigger screen size. Sold my 13 mini and have had the 13 since January and am very happy. Great battery life, bigger screen, still lightweight.

Currently on the 2020 SE but might get the 13 mini (in pink) when the new 14 comes out. I refuse to pay the premiums. Or I might change my mind and go with the 2022 SE.

Mom had a mini and she regretted the device. I ended up buying here a nice 13.

Why did not you go for an eSIM for your work or personal line instead?

It’s government work so we don’t get to do things like that. Additionally, email and other various vpn resources are setup through them…wouldn’t let them add that junk to my personnel phone regardless.

Currently got a 13 Pro, had it since December. I did try a 13 Pro Max and 13 Mini for a week each a good few weeks ago, ended up sticking with my 13 Pro.

XR > mini

I don't regret it, its the perfect size. The camera isn't as good as i thought it would be though.

11pro to 13mini. Love the size and the display is big enough for me. Just put the font size larger ;)
If i need to do more then phone calls, messaging, light web browsing i switch to my ipad or macbook. I love the mini, really bad that i seems like there will be no 14mini.

SE1 -> 13 Mini -> Google Pixel 4A -> SE3

I get migraines from the 13 Mini screen which has PWM and Touch ID is faster than Face ID as I can unlock the phone before looking at the screen.

I miss my SE1. I'd go back to the Mini when no PWM, and a side-mounted Touch ID like the iPad mini

11 to mini. And not looking back… sadly, looking forward sounds like the end of the mini line… but hopefully not! This is the best-for-me phone I’ve ever had. To be clear, I’ve always been of the “small” phone preference. The 5-based phones were my favourites until the mini line arrived.

Like you, I went from a 12 Pro to a 13 Mini. Was a little unsure about going to a smaller size but it just felt so nice in the hand (and to be able to use one handed). I traded my 12 Pro in which more or less had me get this phone for free at the time (some time in May/ June).

Don't regret it at all. Image quality is the same minus the telephoto lens. If you open up either image in Photoshop (12 pro vs 13 mini) they're both the same quality minus Pro Raw. Screen size you'll get used to very quickly. Will be a bit of a shock at first. Stick it out for a week and you'll wonder why you ever had a bigger phone.

Battery life isn't as good simply put. Is it good enough? Yes. You can make through a whole day as long as you're not a social media whore.

My piece of advice to you if you make the jump, either trade in the 12 pro or put it somewhere where you're not going to be tempted to pick it up and switch back and forth. You'll feel torn. Ultimately the Mini will feel nicer, but you'll second guess it.

Although, totally your call. Everyone has their preference. Whats funny is - everyone that notices I have it, wants it or didn't even know it existed (not everyone cares / checks sites like these as much as we do lol).

End of the day, its really not that small. Just in comparison to the rest of the Mobile TV lineup. If phones jumped back to 5.8 in screen size I'd be tempted to go that route (if a pro model). Hope that helps!

SE 2020 >> 13 Mini

Very happy I did.

Face ID was a bit frustrating at first compared to Touch ID… but I got over it.

My favourite iPhone since the 5S.
Could you provide more details about why you thought Face ID was frustrating? I’m considering making the same upgrade as you did and am still on the fence.

Sure. This is only my own personal experience, but I would not let that stop you from moving to a Mini.
It is a fabulous piece of tech and mostly Face ID is pain free. 👍

For example in Apple Pay.
With Touch ID I just needed to place my iPhone near the scanner, finger on the button, wallet pops up and *ding* it pays. That helps when you use an in store app to scan as you go along to self checkout.

With Face ID, to use Apple Pay you have to double click the power button, then Wallet displays, then look at the phone to confirm ID… and it does not always work smoothly. Especially when it asks you to input your password now and then…
When using an in store app to scan items, the double clicking of the power button can confuse some apps…

With Touch ID "Raise to wake" with my finger on the button takes me straight in to the home screen.
With Face ID you need an extra swipe up…

Touch ID identifies you whether you are wearing glasses, sunglasses, masks, brightest sunlight or in complete darkness.
Face ID sometimes gets it wrong. If the light is too bright — on the beach for example. I have it 75% working with glasses and sunglasses and masks, but it does not really get that I like to wear different styles of sunglasses.

However, all that being said, I did get used to it. And mostly (mostly!) Face ID works well. It is amazing technology.

Still, I wish they would incorporate the Touch ID in to the power button.

Of course YMMV and you'll probably hear from some people who will claim 100% success rates with Face ID… well… yeah. I'm not one of those "lucky" ones.

I have super mixed feelings about my 13 Mini.

In one sense I absolutely love it because I can easily navigate the screen and quickly text someone with one hand.

On the other side, I was just abroad for a month in Italy and it didn't really work well for me. The screen was too small when looking up places on Google Maps. The battery life wasn't enough and I hated using the magsafe battery pack. The speaker isn't loud enough at times. I find the keyboard is too small to type comfortably.

I am probably reverting back to the Max size soon. I hate how big and heavy that size class is but it has the ideal battery life and keyboard for my needs and the speaker is crazy loud. It's also a pleasure to look at it.

I tried the iPhone 13 for a few months and found it fine but I'd rather have the battery life of the Max size.

Maybe the 14 max will be the answer to a phablet that doesn’t weigh a metric ton

I went from the SE Gen. 1 to the 13 mini and am happy with the change. I have a strong desire to stick with a phone that easily fits in the pocket, so this was the obvious choice. With my usage, I am able to go multiple days between charges.
