OK it's not a rogue app. Still getting the battery loss in standby with no apps installed.

I'll try the DFU restore mode now to see if that helps.

I had some major battery problems especially in when the phone was locked.

I tried everything and the only thing that helped was a DFU restore and then a restore from my iCloud backup. See below and then skip to post 1097 in the same thread to see the results.

Why buy a new phone every year if the previous one is OK ? Why anticipate the iPhone 8 when Apple show they cannot produce a reliable device ? We know nothing about iPhone 8, so why should it already be perceived as a must-have ? My advice is:get back to 6S if your are not satisfied with 7, enjoy your device, and wait and see.

The problem is that I traded in my 6S through the Jump on Demand program at T-Mobile. I'd really not rather go through the hassle of returning another iPhone 7. We'll see if the DFU restore works. I'm currently doing it now.

Do you live in an area of very poor cellular signal? Are you at the very edge of your wifi's range?

No...neither one of those is an issue. I have the router in my room where I sleep and I have a T-Mobile signal booster so that's not an issue.

Bizarre. Yeah, I would follow the procedures above and see if you can get the rogue process or app isolated.

Also, how long are you waiting after restore to see the battery consumption? The first day or two are the heaviest on the battery with the phone getting set up, syncing to the cloud, etc. Make sure you're giving it enough time to "get settled" before you decide there are still "issues."

I hope you get it worked out. I know that's a headache.

It's not an app because I restored the iPhone as new last night and didn't install any apps to see if that was the problem and the battery still drained in standby mode. I just restored it in DFU mode. We'll see if that helps.

I gave the first 7 two weeks and nothing helped. I've had this one for 8 days. Some other people are having this issue as well. I don't think it's a major problem though. I just got super unlucky to have it happen on 2 phones.

Any luck?

Just checked for the first time after 2hr 10min off the charger and still at 100 percent. Cautious optimism though since i had the same exact thing happen the other day and a little over 3 hours later I had dropped to 95 percent and after 9 hours of standby time i was at 86 percent.

I know they do. I've had every iPhone except the 6 and this is the first time this has come up.

I checked the apps that I've used and that's not it. My last hope is to turn off background app refresh and then location services and see if that helps. If neither of those work I have to decide whether I can live with this issue.

Location services don't use battery unless an app is making a call to it. Usually indicated by an arrow in your status bar.

Quality, rational thinking. Don't see it much on these forums, you'd think the sky was falling with how obsessed and upset some people get about one or two unlucky phones.

Do you have the display maxed out on brightness?

It is locked while, as the OP says it is in standby so the screen brightness wouldn't matter.

That's right haha. It's strictly a standby issue.

I really wasn't able to get an accurate read of the situation today after doing the DFU restore. I'm gonna charge the phone to 100 percent soon and see how it is after I wake up tomorrow(8-9 hours of standby). This sure is frustrating though.

I apologize if this is just too obvious and has already been done. Have you tried to run the battery all the way to zero after which you charge it to 100%? Supposedly, this calibrates the battery percentage indication.

And post a screenshot of the battery usage as well as that should provide clues.

I did that yes but that's not it.

There's no clues in it trust me. I'm confident it's a hardware issue. We'll see what happens after tomorrow morning.

What model of the iPhone 7 do you have?

Since you said T-Mobile I'm wondering if you have the iPhone 7 with an intel modem and your 6S has a Qualcomm modem in it. This could explain the difference.

You could see if you could return or exchange it for one with a Qualcomm modem to see if the same battery drain occurs.
I have a intel modem iPhone 7 and this isn't happening on my phone.

OK I've done everything I think I can do. 12 hours and 18 minutes of standby with 9 minutes of usage and my battery dropped from 100 percent to 74 percent. It's gotta be a hardware issue. The 9 minutes of usage has to be from the 5 or 6 text messages I got while I was sleeping. I have a genius bar appointment on Tuesday and we'll see if they replace the phone. I doubt they will since battery tests will show the battery is ok.

whats your signal like? i lost about 15% last night over 10 hours but my phone still lasted about 28 hours total. I get alot of notification though via twitter

Earlier in the thread the OP said they use a T-Mobile signal booster so it should be a strong signal. I'm actually now wondering if the device is constantly switching between a tower and the signal booster.

@andyx3x have you tried unplugging the signal booster to see if that's the issue? You could also just use wifi instead of the signal booster.

I can try that but the 6S doesn't have the battery drop with the booster there. It'll drop at minimum 1 percent during the night and most times stay at 100 percent. I'm sure that's not the issue but I'll try it.
