I swim with it, steam room with it, jacuzzi with it and sauna with it, oh and shower with it pretty much 5 times a week after a gym session. Did it for 2 yrs on my S2. It did get replaced a few months ago due to a charging issue foc. Do the same with my S4 and will continue to do so.

I really don't see any reason to shower with my watch so the answer is no. I have a Rolex Submariner as well and I never made it a habit to shower with it either. Too many hard surfaces in the bathroom and shower for a watch.

I just want to say that the first page of this thread is the best ever.

Anyway, I do the whole if I work out or swim (either pool or open water) I shower with it, otherwise not thing. I did this with my Series 0 for three years with no issues. Why would I shower with it? Well I'm not going to leave it on the sink in a locker room at the gym/pool/beach, that's for sure.

I plan to buy an Apple watch for the emergency call 911 features and detect fall features. The watch would serve as the "help I can't get up" button alert worn around the neck. Over a year or so, the watch is cheaper then the alert service. Also, I like that if you fall and don't move....the watch calls 911 and texts your selected contact.

So, yes, I will wear it in the shower, one of the most dangerous areas in the house.

Here are some Apple Watch cases...for protection, water proofing, etc. But the waterproof case appears to be a "install it" and don't remove it.

Not since ruining a perfectly good Hamilton watch in the 1960s: I nearly dropped it on the floor as I was reaching to silence the alarm clock one morning. Somehow noticed I was about to shove the watch off the edge of the nightstand but managed to grab it. Then of course the autopilot in my brain helpfully took over and apparently suggested that since I had it in hand, why not put it on. Of course, and how sensible!

Next stop: shower, wash hair... I didn't even notice it then, until I reached for a towel, and then in hastily taking it off I did drop it... onto a tile floor. Yeah, don't ask. I tried two different jewellers...

I got a frantic text from a friend a couple of years back who had inadvertently fallen in a pool with their dad's Hamilton on their wrist. I gave them some rather odd instructions that they were reluctant to try, but none the less listened to me. First of all, I established that the watch was on a Speidel bracelet and not on a strap(I'd have had them attempt to remove the strap if not, but if that had been too much of a time constraint I'd have said leave it). Then, I had them fill a mason jar with kerosene, drop the whole watch in it, and bring it to me.

Fortunately, they'd both acted fast, and also the watch had the otherwise plentiful 982 movement in it(for which I have most of the common parts on hand). The movement, of course, got taken apart and got a thorough hand cleaning in naptha to get the worst of the kerosene off of it, but then was MOSTLY fine with standard bath through the cleaning machine as I'd treat any other watch. I ended up having to replace a couple of rusty parts in the keyless works(the parts that interact with the stem), but that's actually not totally unprecedented for older wristwatches even if they haven't gone swimming. The dial really was none the worse for wear, although it was showing its age and I ended up sending it to International Dial(which has the original Hamilton masks) for a refinish-that part was optional, and is something I normally don't do.

As far as I know, the watch is still CAREFULLY worn occasionally to this day, and is still ticking along keeping good time.

Wow interesting thread so far. I have not showered with my Apple Watch. I do rinse off the watch and band with water after a heavy run. I usually only use soap on the watch band. The watch itself I’ll use my fingernails on the bottom circular part and dry off with a towel.

My wife has taken hers to the shower several times without any problems. I don’t think I would do this.

Realistically, the Apple Watch shouldn’t have any issues being used in the shower, even though I don’t recommend it. It is splash resistance rated (IPX7) with the first GEN and Series one, the Series 2 and onward versions are 50 m water resistant. Many members have showered with their Apple Watches without any issues, but of course, all it takes is one defective seal for water to penetrate the internals.

No, but I do have a habit of remembering things I need to do in the shower, so Siri would be super useful. Unfortunately I've learnt from swimming that Siri doesn't really work when the microphone is full of water.
