If i'm interested in the whole album I'll buy it in CD form rather than on iTunes. I can't make myself pay the same price for the digital copy of an album as a physical copy. The whole idea seems preposterous.

I have not purchased a music CD since 2005. What bothered me most about CD was I that I had to buy 12+ tracks when I was only interested in 2. There were a few times that the rest of the CD grew on me...just not enough to justify going back to buying CD though.

I still buy a CD if it's from one of my favorite artists. Otherwise, I usually just go to the library and take out a bunch of CD's rip them into iTunes and then return them.

I don't buy CDs all too much either but there are times when I still do. If I like most of a band's song in the album then I'll be more likely to buy the CD. I like the higher quality files I can get. If I'm listening to a song that much it is nice to get the higher quality. Some bands also don't have digital downloads available since they aren't as popular so CDs are still the only way to get their songs.

It's also nice to get easy access to each song's lyrics and for a band I really like it's nice to have something tangible from them. There is something lost when everything becomes digital rather than something I can hold in my hands.

Not really, and I'm fully aware...physical media can/does sound better than a download, but for me the convenience outweighs it. It's not a big enough difference to my ears to make it worthwhile.

I had several hundred CDs in jewel cases up to about a couple of years ago, at which point I got rid of the cases and put them in big binders because I couldn't make myself part with them. I'm sure someday I will.

I have started buying some vinyl, but it's mostly because of the "cool factor" / nostalgia thing. Though, I must admit they sound great.

Same here. To me 256kbps AAC is more than enough, I don't have a 5000$ setup so I couldn't hear it. I buy ALAC whenever I can, but it's not available on many sites (the only one I know is Bandcamp, in fact).

There is a huge music store close to my place. But when I want to buy an album, it's almost always an impulse purchase and I can't wait, I need it now.

Bought 4 more yesterday (or the day before) and 3 more today. They're significantly cheaper than digital format.

That's the part I don't get. Even brand new ones are often comparable in price - if you look to used CD's they are nearly ALWAYS cheaper.

This is pretty much all I buy now. A lot of the music I listen to, I can get on amazon.com or fye.com for .99 cents plus $2.99 or less shipping. I just picked up 10 cd's for the price of a normal one. I don't care of the case is nice or not, as long as I can rip it to a lossless format I am a happy camper.

Usually the only times I buy CDs are when they're DVDs and I'm using them for burning, or it's a Blu-Ray/Xbox DVD for games. Most other times I try to get a download version, but I do occasionally buy software CDs.

Yep. CDs and DVD's. iTunes doesn't have a very big selection for oldies tv shows and cds. But most of the time i'd rather just get it from the library, rip it to my computer, its free.

I pirate all my music and will continue until the big record labels are out of business..maybe then we can restart...

As far as the artist is concerned you shouldn't have made a deal with the devil..

I really can't wait until the dinosaur that is the music industry is extinct..

What about artists that sell their music directly, without a label as a distributor? Do you just screw them up their ass as well because they are musicians?

Nope those I buy from..like Fat Wreck chords to use a big example..

But I still go out of my way to take from the Sony's of this world. I'll even pay for software to strip DRM than just pay for the CD I will not support big music and it's multi decade stangle hold.

Just read something on flipboard that talked about the reduction in CD prices after pirating became big if you can cut you prices by 40ish% and still make obscene amounts of money that tells me you're been screwing me over for years 13 tracks 2 decent songs and $20 now it's 13 tracks 2 decent songs and $12...
