It's great when we're waiting I let my daughter play games on it. It beats hearing "I'm board".
You have a daughter, yet can't spell bored? Or is your daughter really a piece of wood. :p

I let my friends occasionally use my phone, but only for calls. I double-tap to get to phone, leave it on key-pad and pass it to them while watching them hawk-eyed.

You know, a post like that is worthless without pictures :p

:rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes:

Back to the OP's question, of course I let other people that I know of use my iPhone, why can't they? Especially if they asked my permission, it would be a different story if they didn't :p and that's where my passcode kicks in

I let my girlfriends sisters play with the games I have on it or browse the web. I also let my friends call people on it, but if it's someone i don't know asking me, without knowing I have an iPhone, to make a call. I usually just ask someone around me or say I forgot my phone in the car or w/e. :p I'm very leniant, but also very strict at the same time.

So you carry 2 phones and 1 of them is just for other people to make a call?

I carry phones of two plans because I travel in rural areas of New York that are carved up among various carriers. East of here it's Verizon, north of here it's ATT, northwest it's Verizon again... the striped areas on coverage maps that say "partnered" or whatever, that's their polite way of saying "spotty coverage" which basically translates to dead zones. I try to bounce my calls off towers that belong to the right carrier when I'm out in the sticks. In the more urban areas, it doesn't matter.

The fine print on both contracts says that they have the right to terminate my contract if I exceed some percentage of calls they feel like letting me bounce off towers that cost them money. Probably in this economy they would not do it, so... hmm... which plan to cancel... hmm... so I keep them both. Since I didn't upgrade my iPhone, I am thinking of killing my ATT plan after my other ATT phone's contract expires.

:D I was just telling my daughter to always proofread before sending texts the other day also.
In forums I don't as much, maybe I should :p

I guess times have changed - I don't think I have friends that don't have their own cell phones, so they typically never ask to use my phone! I on the other hand have been known to borrow my husband's iPhone if mine is out of reach (which is very rarely the case). Either way, I have a passcode lock on it. My son plays some kiddie games on it (he is very young), but I typically let him use my iPod Touch instead, keeps him quiet and busy in the car on the way to school. :D

No one really asks to use my phone. But at this point the answer would be, "NO".

I have really made use of the apps, and now have A LOT of sensitive/personal information on my phone, and I wouldn't like anyone to go into it. (I'm talking about passwords, and banking info, etc...)

Yes, only to family and friends. And it's only to make calls. I usually tell them not to use anything else on it because it's just like a personal computer - it has personal and work related confidential stuff on it.

Just say your out of minutes, that's what I would do. I've never been asked though. Everyone I know has a phone and if they don't, there's usually a store or office with phones nearby. If someone asks to see my phone I'll say I'm doing something unless it's family or friends. I'd keep the sms stuff hidden if I had really secretive conversations through that medium, but I don't talk **** about ppl so I'm fine. Usually just chatting about random stuff.

I let allmy mates play on my phone i have nothing to hide and i trust them and they respect my wishes by not going through my texts.

If any of my friend want to play with it, its fine with me. I have nothing to hide.
I won't give it to strangers though, I've seen bad things happen.

Depends on the person. Some friends I'll let them see if it if I get them into a game, others I wouldn't let them touch it with a barge pole.

Yes, it's just a phone.

Not to me! I try to cram as much functionality into it as possible. It makes carrying a laptop that much unnecessary.

I have:

- Bento for iPhone, with a slew of databases containing confidential info
- Reunion for iPhone, containing my entire family tree
- stored logins, now that 3.0 stores them
- the skype, iDisk, youtube and facebook clients have my account info
- I scan all my paper files and throw out the paper. I have a lot of PDFs on the phone.

when mine was new i never let anyone touch it, but since its nice and broken in now, i dont really care.
i can get a new one next summer.

Just make sure you password protect it, because the story of that other thread is still bothering me (you know, where the guy's phone got stolen and the thief messed with his facebook account).

For me it would be like this. The passcode on my phone is a number that's meaningful to me; if a friend is close enough to figure out that passcode, I will let them use the phone just out of sheer gratitude for such close friendship. Otherwise, sorry, no go. :D

Not a random person nor people i barely met..one incident..they dropped the phone because of careless behavior..now i have 2 very tiny chips in the back of the phone only 5 days old...friends and family i would let use but not abuse and play games like bowling..i get very nervous sometimes though...iphones are very expensive...

As been posted, having a 12 year old daughter you learn real fast that nothing is safe. She can find that thing anywhere and she loves it. Keeping the screen clean is next to impossible. You learn real quick that it is just a phone... Sure, I tell her not to play with it, but it is like telling my dog not to sit on the couch when I am not home - it aint happening.

Try this one on for size - I go to a bunch of AA meetings, and a lot of the new guys are coming out of prison or rehabs and they are flat dead broke. And they always need to call someone, so they ask the person next to them to use their phone (kind of like the old days of bumming smokes). I know, I know a bunch of you would just be cool as a cucumber and can say "NO".

It is a real interesting feeling to see a multiple time felon - who has been out of the joint for a few weeks - borrow your phone and head outside to make a call or text someone. I am very happy when it returns but I am also curious as to who they are calling. I am kind of hoping I get one of those CSI moments where the FBI agent comes knocking and says "You were the last number in his cell phone before the drug deal went south"

And for you guys who keep 'valuable' information on your phone - are you for real? You guys really do make it to simple sometimes. I watch guys all the time and it wouldn't take much to get your phones from you. I just saw this yesterday, a dude pulled up, jumped out of his car and ran in to buy a pack of smokes. He left his car running with his phone charging on the front seat. He was gone 2 minutes. At lunch I see phones on tables or they leave them in their coat pocket and hang it up on the chair and proceed to have lunch. I know, all of you are just way to hip to ever your phone out of reach.

Why on god's green earth would you store something valuable on something that would take one random bonehead move for you to lose it?
