I am getting tired of lugging around my 17 Pro Max. I would love to go back to the Air. Is it worth trying to get a family member to buy my 17 Pro Max and getting an Air again? I don't know... Do I want to? Yes.

I'm losing weight (because I have to) - and good grief, the 17 Pro Max really pulls down pants/shorts more than ever.

I have an iPad... I won't want the fold. The Air 2 apparently will have the same body - just upgraded internals.... hmmmm.

you could just get the 6.3 17 pro, if your ok with the screen size decrease.

Funny that you posted this. My daughter broke her older iPhone a few weeks ago and I “sold” her my 17 pro max (at a major discount). I picked up an iPhone Air (having grown tired of the weight of the PM) and I am enjoying it a lot.

So after having it a while I have realized that even though I still really like my air what I really wanted is a smaller phone. If I can find something smaller I will probably switch, and right now I am really liking the form factor of the foldable so depending on the price I may switch to that. Overall though I haven't felt like I am missing out on anything and I have been enjoying using it caseless to enjoy how thin it is.

Why not a regular 17? It’s nit heavy and it’s smaller.

Yes, I agree about going caseless. I have done so from day one. My coworker has one and she uses a case and while it does not make it much bulkier, the pleasure of holding it without a case is just so much better imho. I still enjoy the feel of the Air in my hand on a daily basis. I will only upgrade to the Air2 if there is a noticeable change to the design which, from what I hear, is unlikely other than a possible second camera which I could live without. I actually find the current camera to be more than sufficient for my needs which are mostly pics of our Dachshunds and pics of food from new restaurants that we go to.

Caseless is truly amazing. Even though the phone has fallen twice to the same concrete driveway that has taken out my previous two phones (which were not caseless), as well as down a floor of stairs on hardwood, Ceramic Shield 2 does a great job and my phone is not broken yet. Just a couple of scuffs on the titanium and minor scratches on the back. I have an Asurion plan just in case it breaks.

I have a Pitaka case I sometimes use to change the look without adding much bulk, but caseless is when the phone is most appreciated. I was given an Apple Bumper case, but I do not know why it exists. The Pitaka can still make me appreciate the thinness in my hand, but the Bumper feels bulky. Only reason I can guess is when you're tired of feeling the bulk it causes, just take it off and the fresh, less bulky feeling of a thinner phone returns.

I have to say that I am starting to get very disappointed by my iPhone Air.

The battery life is poor. Charging at least two or three times a day.

The front facing camera is OK, the microphone is awful.

The selfie camera is terrible.

I still love the form factor, but I’m actually thinking of getting a 17 Pro because I need better camera, better battery, and better microphone!

I’m starting to do a lot of social media posting for my artistic career and I think I’m gonna have to use a Pro.

Here’s the catch, Apple won’t let me trade in my iPhone Air! Sad!

Maybe a carrier will let you trade it in. I got my phone from my carrier, but I sold my 15 Pro on eBay. I don't recommend selling if you understandably don't want to deal with the hassles (taking thorough photos, messages from hagglers, watching out for scammers), but if selling online is what you like, I'd recommend it.

I just ran into this as well. I bought a moto razr ultra to try out a folding phone for a bit to see if I liked it prior to apple releasing and figured I would just trade in to apple and save the gift card for my next iPhone but after chatting with support they basically told me I have to wait until a new model comes out or sell it myself.

How can the front facing camera be OK and the selfie camera terrible? Everyone who has ever owned a phone knows they are the same thing. Are you an AI bot? Or did you mean back facing, not front facing?

By the way, it's the same "terrible" selfie camera in the 17 Pro so you won't get any improvement.
Also I've heard a couple people say there is no discernible mic quality difference with the 17 Pro (its extra mic likely has to do with spatial audio recording), so if you find the Air mic quality "awful", you may still be disappointed with the Pro.

Regarding battery life, it sounds like you are a power/heavy user. The Air isn't for that category of user. The Pro will better suit you. You may miss the thinness/lightness of the Air, but you can't have it all! (And if you are an AI bot, you can't have anything.)

And yes, looks like Apple hasn't begun trade-ins for the newest generation iPhones yet.

Apple isn’t going to begin trade in for the Air until September when they release the next generation of iPhones. They do this every year.

Agreed with the above. Just sold my iPhone 17 Pro Max and got the air. Should’ve done that at the beginning cause I don’t use cameras very much. I can care less about the speakers. Guess I just wanted the biggest and the best but that was a mistake on my part.🤬 I’ll keep this one for a few years or perhaps as long as I live since I’m 80 years old. Now I’m very happy with the size. 😁

It's been exactly 6 months since I got mine and I'm glad to report that I like it even more now than when I did when I first got it. I still get amazed by the thin and light design. The honeymoon phase has not gone away yet.

Haven't broken it so far.

Surprisingly, the Camera Control is half-useful to me (upgrading from 15 Pro which doesn't have it). I use it to open the camera app, but nothing else.

The speaker is OK, but that is sufficient for me. I don't understand why it's a dealbreaker for so many people. We all bought iPhone 4Ss and 5s with garbage quality speakers, so I'm still appreciative.

I even try to wirelessly charge it 99% of the time because I don't want to scratch the titanium. When plugging in my wireless mic, I am very careful of plugging it in.
Still at 100% battery health with 159 cycles and an 80% charge limit.

You can have both, on my Air I have one press to open the camera and a long press and visual intelligence activates. Very handy button 👌🏻
How do you set it up for the visual intelligence? I only see options for Code Scanner and Magnifier other than the Camera.

Make sure it's on in Settings > Camera > Camera Control. In that menu, Press and Hold should be on. It's not in the Camera menu at the top, but it's a toggle at the bottom.
