Some people lack the ability to appreciate subtleties in color and design. Chrome, polished aluminum, and polished titanium all present a distinct and unique appearance. If you cannot differentiate these differences then you might simply prefer to save your money and opt for the shiny polished turd, assuming, of course, that your olfactory sensitivity is as degraded as your visual.

It was £699 on Amazon and Very last week. Currently now £749 on Amazon, so it was and is correct.

A significant number of consumers don’t buy from Apple though due to their higher pricing. You buy from where offers the best price. I’ve never bought an iPhone from Apple in 16 years of owning them, but have bought an iPod Mini and two Apple Watches from them. It’s perfectly fine to comment on pricing based on market prices and not just rely on Apple for the data.
Just be glad it does not look like this render I made a while back, with the non-shiny aluminum!

I have both and primarily use my Pro Max. What I usually do is use my Pro Max for the first 20 days of the month (my goal is get achieve 20 days a month to close my Apple Rings) and then switch to the Air. Absolutely love the Air but....as soon as I start to use it I miss my Pro Max and so go back to that... Still can't decide between the 2. I'm just lucky enough to have both. I'll upgrade my Pro Max in September but keep hold for the Air.

Do you know if there's any limit to how many times you switch your eSim? Like, can you swop 2 or 3 times a day?

This is what I thought. Took at trip up to John O'Groats with my Air (took the Pro Max with me also), unbelievable scenery so on the way back switched to the PM. I'm not a photographer so picture weren't that much better. I guess it's just good to know you have the phone with the better camera?

You clearly didn't read what I said. It was £699 at at least 2 retailers, so that is the price the phone was available for. It is now £749. It is irrelvant that Apple and other retailers are still charging £999, they are not the benchmark for competitivity.

I loved the iPhone Air but the battery couldn’t cut it for my preference and use. Used it for several months— I always felt like I needed a charger laying around and the Apple MagSafe Battery was heavy when connected to the phone. Realistically, it’s the perfect phone for many at the price points I am seeing now. Beautiful and sleek really.
I traded to the iPhone 17 pro max last month— went totally opposite and miss the weight of the air most days. I don’t miss the lack of speakers and battery life, but it sure felt durable and sleek.

I still very much love my launch day Air and haven't minded the few times I've needed to pop on the MagSafe battery. While it adds a few ounces, it only makes it a couple ounces heavier than the 17 PM. It is light/thin and an absolute joy to use 99% of the time, which for me is worth every perceived trade off. I can't make the 17 PM lighter/thinner or made with a more premium material.
To answer the OP question, yes I love the air but I sold it and got the 17 pro max because of its battery. I could barely make it past 3PM on a work day without it reaching the 20% marker. (Roughly 5 hours of SoT.) I had to regularly think about where to charge for a mid-day boost. And using the magsafe battery attachment kind of defeats the entire purpose for a thin and light device, so I didn't go that route.
That said I consider the iPhone Air vastly superior in terms of design, feel, and usability. Its unfortunate I'm stuck with a bigger phone because of battery life, so I'm hoping they improve that for future iterations. (Which are hopefully coming.) Cameras are vastly different too but for my use case that isn't high on my priorities.
Really it comes down to what your priorities are in a phone.

I never understood why people have such a hangup on this . . . I have had my Air since launch day and yes I sometimes have to charge the device but that is not too often for my use case and I have no problem slapping on my MagSafe battery pack from time to time. It does not kill you to do this.
I enjoy the form factor the Air brings and it is plenty powerful enough for anything I throw at it from normal day to day use. I agree with you regarding your last sentence in your comment. It comes down to how the person's choice based on their own use case. Why there are so many iPhones to choose from, including 13, 14, 15, and 16 series iPhones...

It depends on the frequency. If you need to slap on the MagSafe battery every single day, then the iPhone Air is probably not a good fit.

You have a car . . . you can charge your phone using a MagSafe car charger mount, which I have in all my cars. If you're working and have an office, you most likely have an iPhone charger set up at your desk, at least I did when I used to work before retiring.
My point being, you don't have to function strictly on the battery all day long when you have opportunities throughout the day to charge up your device when opportunity to do so presents itself. I don't see any need to get silly over having to add a MagSafe battery pack because there are people out there saying doing so defeats the look or "purpose" of the having the Air to begin with. To me this is absolute nonsense.
No matter the device, if you find yourself running low on your current battery charge, then charge it up. Simple as that. I also use my 13 mini and right now at 6pm it's charge level is sitting right at 79% charge level. Yes, I have ready access to a charge point for my devices I'm using. Yes, I have no problem slapping on a MagSafe battery pack if needed to charge up my device. For me it is what it is.
The battery health on my devices I daily are typically greater than 95% battery health including my 13 mini which had a brand new battery installed recently. I still prefer the form factor of the Air and the compactness of my 13 mini. I enjoy using either device for what they are, imperfect iPhones, but they both work very well for my use case.
I just shake my head when I see people get all worked up having to "ruin" the look of their iPhones or "defeating the purpose" of having a thin or compact iPhone by having to use a case or MagSafe battery pack . . . whatever . . . Just enjoy the iPhones you have. Not all people have the same priorities or use case and that is also okay. This is just an observation I have noticed on the forums regarding thin and compact iPhones yet you have those who actually use them and appreciate what these devices have to offer their iPhone experience.

It's so funny to see people get butt hurt when someone says something negative about the air. I fully stand behind the dislikes I've received for spilling the tea on how mediocre it is.
In the nicest possible way maybe you might want to read the person you're replying to posts as you might not be too far apart (for example being 13 mini fans). Not everything has to be a polar battle between "I love the Air, "I hate the Air") there is room for nuance hopefully.
