Depends on the day, but usually I live all over.
I know I’ve asked this or mentioned it in other threads. Some reports and people say it’s confirmed Apple will use a variant of the A12, but I’m worried Apple will stick an A11X in there and the iPad will still be second fiddle to iPhone.
But I’m curious how sure are some of you on Apple doing the right thing and putting the A12X in the iPad?

*again, just out of curiosity. :)

100 percent sure it will be the A12 and not the A11. 99 percent sure it will be the A12X

Am I the only one that thinks the A12x is yet to prove itself superior.
What have been causing Xs slowdowns and temp glitches, unless it's ios12/12,1 related.

Agree it seems very likely. A12 devices will have been out for ~2 months by the time new Pros are released.

i don't think its the A12 chip as Xr also runs on it fine and so far the reviews or any posts have yet to comment about that on the Xr.

    It’ll be a new A12X SOC.

Can’t wait. I will miss my iPad Air 2 terribly, though.

Yes, it will definitely get the A12x chip. I’d bet good money on it. Just like the first 12.9” iPad Pro got the A9X chip while the iPhone 6S got the A9 chip back in 2015. They were both announced in September, but the iPad Pro didn’t arrive until November. Same will happen here. The iPhone XS got the A12 and the new iPad Pros that will be announced on Oct 30th will get the A12X. You can take that to the bank. It’s a done deal.

A12 or A12X, doesn't matter, the jump will be big enough
If Apple dont want to give us A12X +6Gb ram and if i had to choose, i choose A12+6gb Ram instead of A12X and 4gb ram

All that separate the X from the regular is the graphics engine. X just adds a little more RAM and a core or two more lanes inside the graphic engine!

If for nothing else other than the new NPU, it will be an A12 or A12X. My understanding is that FaceID needs the NPU to work and the new version is so much better, Apple wouldn't cripple a new machine (especially one aimed at professionals and artists) like that. Cripple it in other way, sure.

I'm also confident that the cost of the A-series chips is mostly in the R&D. I suspect the 7nm chips are a little more expensive than the 10nm ones but not enough to justify going back a generation. So if Apple is going to save costs it will be just a vanilla A12. However, my hunch is the tradition of 'X' variants for the iPads will continue.

Of course, they’re not going to debut the A11X in their flagship tablets when the A12 already exists.

I’m pretty sure they are going to reuse the A10X. No doubt in my mind.

There was this on Friday. Just a recap of stuff we've heard before I think.

EDIT. Discussed in these forums here
