Do YOU think buying AppleCare plus for the iPhone 8 is a good idea?

Something good to know, if you wind up selling your phone or trading it in, you can always call AC+ and ask for a pro-rated refund. If you're polite and ask for it, they always give it to you.

Which plan do you have from verizon for loss/theft? Do they have one that only covers it?
They have a plan that covers loss/theft but it’s priced so high that for an extra $2/mo you get everything.
Yes. It’s a waste in a way.. and I’m thinking of dropping it for my device because of the anecdotal reports of bad phones from Asurion... but my daughter had her phone stolen and it $450 for a new iPhone S that was new a few months before and it least it would be some recourse (I’d love to be able to self-insure but I’m not that reliable).
No way anyone is keeping an 8 for over a year! With the X looming and the XIs just around the corner.
The 8 has the same processor, improved speakers and (mostly) camera . If the 8 is the only modern iPhone with touch ID and a bezel to rest your thumb on in landscape mode- there Will be plenty of people whom want it 2-3 years from now !
Just a note of a very recent experience with Asurion....I had a 6+ that was damaged by an accidental fall. Phone had other issues as well and the broken glass from the fall put the final nail in the coffin for that phone. Made a claim with Asurion and paid the $200 deductible. Knew I'd get a refurbed phone with random parts installed, but didn't want to jump into an new phone right then. Of course the 1st replacement had a screwed earpiece. Pissed, I sent that one back. Mind you, I have to have a phone for my job and just being without one for 1 day would kill me. Got a 2nd replacement 6+ the next day and that one had touch disease badly...it would just lock up and the screen became unresponsive. At that point, I just said screw it and went and purchased an 8+ 256gb. I HAD to have a working phone. Still called and complained with Asurion about their junk phones and they stated "well we have no more 6+ 64gb silver...would you consider a 7+ 128gb silver?" Hells yeah I would!! While waiting for it to come, I'm thinking "wait, it's probably another crap refurb". Lo and behold, a brand, spanking new 7+ 128gb came today!!! Way to go Asurion!!! Too bad I'll have to drop them as I picked up AppleCare with the new phone. Now I can upgrade my wife's 6S+ 16gb....for $200!!
