I think the fact the 8 GB 5c came out last month shows Apple aren't keen to up the storage. At best I could see a 16 / 64 / 128 lineup (eliminating the 32 option) but that probably won't happen.

Why eliminate t he 32GB when it's more popular than the 64gb?

I think he's saying making 64GB the same price as the current 32GB. I would be a lot more OK paying $100 and going to 64GB than the way it is now. I just feel like I'm getting fleeced with the current upgrade prices.

I'm sure we all would. But Apple is not dropping the price on the iPhone, especially with the increase in screen size. There is absolutely no reason not to sell the 16GB version and maintain the current price points on all models.

Oh I completely agree. They are making huge margins and have the most popular phone on the market, their investors would have a fit if they essentially gave away profits. From a consumer standpoint it sucks.

I guess they will still start at 16 gb.
But I hope that they will at least offer a 128 gb option.
It would also be great if the price jump between step-ups in storage was dropped somewhat.
The $100 they charge you to go from 16 to 32 gigs storage, for example, is almost criminal considering the difference in price between a 16 and 32 gb chip.

Answer to OP: Not for one second, no. Apple rely on releasing such a pitiful base spec that most people are forced to buy an enhanced version for an outrageous price hike. Sure I like their stuff, or I wouldn't be on here. But that is their model.

Agreed...Charging premium for baseline. Then the real "PREMIUM" pricing on the storage upgrades (Mac SSDs, iPad and iPhones). Where i'm from the price jumps ~150$ from 16->32.
So if i want a 64gb iDevice i pay ~300 for the jump up from base.

But hey.. Apples shareholders surely (hopefully?) ain't complaining. :p
With that said: I'm still buying Apple products. Simply stating and agreeing that pricing is outrageous. :)

While I agree with you I'm going to play devils advocate.

If the based model came with 32gb it would be more attractive overall which leads to more sales and more profit. The exact same thing could be said about a larger screen as storage. It's just storage isn't as attractive as a benefit as a larger screen.

Why put a more expensive larger screen on it and sell it at the same price? Give away profits like you say.

But in the end I agree. Base model will continue to be 16gb.
