no way. I challenge the OP to find a lighter computer with the same specs!
There are plenty of options out there that are lighter and more powerful. Some even have larger displays. However, their build materials are different and thus may sometimes affect quality.

As for me, I never found it to be too heavy when I owned one. But switching to something a bit lighter was somewhat noticeable.

Wow, really? Compared to the stuff I lug around on a day to day basis even my 15" mbp is light, so no...the 13" is not too heavy

+1

My 15" gets hauled around everywhere with me, both in backpacks and tote/shoulder bags and I've been fine with it.

I used to carry a 14" laptop that weighed ~2.5kg which is the same as the 15" MBP I have now. I had no problems carrying that to and from uni almost everyday. A 13" that is 0.5kg lighter would be better of course, but I don't mind carrying the weight of a 15" since I'm used to it.

Depends, I really consider to get an iPad for basic stuff i do with my MacBook Pro, like browsing at a coffee shop or something because 2 Kg can be a lot when you want to hold it in your hand for a long time, it's even hard to hold it with one hand in several positions, but as a laptop It's pretty average

Are you f'n kidding me? I currently lug around a 17" Dell Inspiron that weighs 8 lbs, and I have no problems.

I'm not even huge or anything, I'm 6'0 150 lbs.

Needless to say I went with the 17" MBP.

Not heavy at all...though I agree with some that it can lose the optical drive. I used it maybe twice a year to burn a cd or DVD.

My iPad has me spoiled with it's small weight, which is why I've been carrying the iPad everywhere....but am sure I'll abhor when school starts again in the fall and gotta carry around the mbp everywhere. Though in all respect I used to carry it around daily for months on end.

I love how light my Macbook Pro is compared to other laptops with the same specs. Also the general presentation of the Macbook Pro is nicer than most laptops.

I've had a MacBook Air, actually I still do, my wife uses it.

My 13" MBP is no problem to carry compared to the Air. It's a full featured laptop easy to take anywhere no worries about battery life, ports, heat or fans blaring ...

I love my 13" MBP, my 15" rarely gets used for more than a desktop in my home office, otherwise the 13" comes with me everywhere.

It will take a hell of a MacBook Air upgrade for me to switch back ... the 13" MBP has a better keyboard, screen more ports, dvd player although I could do without that, most of all it's quite powerful with a 256ssd and 8gb ram ... it does everything I need it to do including heavy lifting, I don't even notice a huge speed difference from it to my 15" MBP or my Mac Pro....

13" MBP is great!!! You'll be hard pressed to find a better 13" notebook on the market right now.

No. I thought about an MBA but while the MBA may be lighter in weight it is also too light in processor, memory, disk, and ports (for me) so the little extra weight of the MBP 13 brings with it much more of everything else (for my needs).

You've got a 13 and 15" MBP too, cool. How do you use them both, which do you use/like the most?

I use the 15 exclusively for work, the extra screen real estate is nice for doing many things at once. I also run VMware fusion (work requires XP, Outlook, and some macros in Excel that do not run on the Mac version). I really like unity mode in Fusion, seems to work well with how I work. Work gave me a Dell, but lets me run on a VM on my Mac - much better.

The 13 is for purely personal use, music, photos, etc. I use it to record on (play guitar, bass) and it is really portable for just about any situation. I can't wait until larger SSD's come down in price, maybe Intel will double the capacity this fall and leave the price the same :)
