SD card slot???? Never!!! Apple upgrading from 16gb to 32gb or 64 gb is where they make their big bucks additional 16 gb cost Apple $10 and customer pays $100

SD cards are 10x slower than the internal Flash storage on the latest iPhones. While Apple may have many other reasons not to include an SD card slot, this alone would cripple the user experience in ways that are not acceptable for Apple.

Even Google has started limiting the sad card functionality in Android. With Kitkat apps can only write on their own directory, and this has caused many compatibility issues with File Explorer apps..
The Nexus devices don't have an sd card slot and that shows the future..

Apple will never ever offer an iPhone with sd..

256GB of storage for a cellphone?
I don't see that happening any time soon.
Even the 64GB that's available now sells very little compared to the other smaller storage options.
Sure's there's some people who want the option but not that many actually do purchase them.

Yea those 64GB don't do that well in the used market when it's time to sell for a new shiny iPhone.

And this is the exact reason why I can't see Apple getting rid of the 16gb and making 128 the most.

I know it may have a lot to do with price, but the 64 gb sales a whole lot slower than the 16.

16GB sold more because people don't have a clue about phones, only when they have hundreds of photos that they have to delete do they realise, and many don't have storage in their pc's or mac's to store them, or find they can't add an app, I have a 32gb iphone, it's nowhere near enough, think of apps like TomTom, it's simply apples way of making people pay £700 for the not enough memory 64gb iphone, or extra £45+ 2 year contract, when a 64GB micro sd card cost around £10-£15, keep fooling yourself, and remember iPhones have Samsung parts inside. I've had enough, no flash player either, Sony next, and I'll be using a couple of 128GB micro SD cards, 6 years with iphone, goodbye! But I'll keep my imac of course and my Apple TV. #

Correct! But probably cost them a lot less than $10 for an additional 16gb

If it did, that would be great. They could have the three variants of price based on screen size, as opposed to storage.

I really hope not.

A lot of sacrifices have to made to introduce a micro-SD slot. It takes up valuable space, and a lot more space than just the extra storage requires: there's all the space you need for the slot hardware itself, interface, mounting, etc. Every cubic millimeter inside these phones is prime territory; nothing is wasted. On top of that, it introduces another hole that dust, moisture, foreign particles, and such can get inside and goop up your device.

I've had iPhones for 7 years now. Not once have I thought 'gee, I wish I had a micro-SD for this thing!'. I'd much rather have all the space that would normally be used to house a micro-SD slot be used for something that's useful all the time, not just once in a great while.

The lack of a card slot is the main reason NOT to buy iPhone or Nexus.

A lot of people just don't care or don't notice, though, so I wouldn't really call that the "main" reason. I can think of a lot of other things I'd switch for over simple storage.

Nope. I think that if it was going to get one, it would have been done years ago.

This is true. Most people don't realize how much something's do take up. For instance my fiancée has a 16 gb 5C... She has absolutely no room on the phone because of pictures of our kids. She came From an 8gb iPhone 4 so she thought she'd be ok, but she's not. So when we upgrade to the 6 she's getting the 32 gb regardless.

The truth is the 16 gb sales the best because it is the entry level model on the flagship devices. If Apple changes that to the 32 gb surely it'll sale just as well.

Maybe they will ... Maybe they won't, but with Apple they see something selling so well they may not drop it.

Plenty of people don't fill up anywhere close to the free space that the 16 GB model provides.

No.

Apple makes money off of people upgrading to bigger storage capacities with a bigger price tag.

If they had that flexibility, everyone would just buy the 16GB and expand it with a micro SD.

It isn't convenient for apple.
