Nope. my iMac is a few years old and going strong. I don't even know where my iPod is. I haven't used it since I started listening to satellite radio. Even my Black Berry is several years old.

I do upgrade at most product cycles, but it depends.

I purchase computers online (Amazon) at a reduced rate. Update the RAM and HD, again at a reduced rate. Then I end up selling through craigslist to someone local. I usually end up at least getting what I paid for everything sometimes more. Those upgrades that cost me little, make it more valuable.

For iPhones, every since the first 2G 4GB model. I've sold for more than I paid for it. So basically I get the upgraded phone for free, plus have money left over.

Timing is the biggest thing. Sell as close to next product release as possible, not a sec later.

That's awesome. See, if I could sell my previous stuff and break even or make a profit then I would do it in a heart beat. It would only make sense to me, but if I sold everything and lost money then I wouldn't do it.

No.

There's more to life than apple products. People who piss away that much money on pieces of plastic and electricity need to reevaluate their priorities.

I still have my first mac... Mid 2009 MacBook Pro. I upgraded to 8GB of RAM and it's still going strong :) the black strip on the back of the body which hind of holds the screen on (around the hinge) is cracking though and makes a crunching noise sometimes... either that'll kill it and I'll just get a new one (it's insured) or I'll get another if something spectacular happens (such as a MBP with a retina display).

I might sell my iPad 2 64GB when the iPad 3 launch is imminent :)

As for iPods.... I have a really bad habit of misplacing them :/ I've lost two so far :( not good!

I can't afford it, but even if I could I probably wouldn't. Often there's not that many changes between generations of products. If you have a Mac that works fine, why bother getting rid of it?

Nope- have a last rev dual core G5 desktop and black MacBook. The G5 is more than capable of doing the heavy lifting and the MacBook can update files as needed. See no reason to upgrade just yet.

My income doesn't cater to Apple's frequency of updates, unfortunately. Sure it'd be nice to have the latest and greatest all of the time, but reality is I can't afford to.

For many many years I bought Windows notebooks simply because they were cheaper and couldn't afford to even think about buying something from Apple. I had to save for a long time before I could afford to buy my MacBook that I have now.. I'm sure many others are onboard this same ship as myself.
