I used to use MagSafe on my M4 MBA half the time, which is why I originally voted for MagSafe. But it got to the point just before I traded it that I would mostly use USB-C. It is much nicer traveling with just my USB-C cables for my iPhone 15 Pro, MacBook Neo, and USB-C AirPods Pro. It all uses one connector, besides my Apple Watch. This is much better when you don't work around traffic areas where MagSafe’s benefits really show. The only other loss really was the light to indicate charging progress. I wish they would build that back into the side of the laptop somehow.

ive got two magsafe chargers. one is in the Kitchen and the other is in my bag for when im out. when im at home (and not on my laptop in the kitchen) then its plugged in to a dock where it charges from via USB-C/TB

It’s nice to have both. When it’s on my Studio Display it uses USB-C, when it’s a laptop travelling it’s on MagSafe. And if anything goes sideways, being able to charge via random laptop USB-C chargers is excellent. As someone who has experienced USB-C ports failing from (ab)use I minimize my use of that port at all times. But minimize isn’t avoid.

I have a friend who thought the new laptops forced MagSafe charging so he’s been holding onto his M1 MBAir at all costs even though he could benefit from the improved specs of newer models, particularly the M5 generation. Cleared that up but I had no idea he’d held onto that misconception.

LOVE flexibility! Not at all costs, but in the case of MagSafe it’s a no-brainer for me.

I’m team USB-C all the way. It’s just way cleaner to carry one charger for my iPhone, iPad, and MacBook. Dealing with less cable clutter in my bag is worth more to me than the safety features of MagSafe.

I get why people like the magnetic connection, but for my daily workflow, that "one-cable-fits-all" convenience just wins.
