I office out of my home so yes - I use wifi as often as possible. When traveling my preferred hotel chain offers free wifi so I use it out there as well. If it's available, why not?

I'm with ATT & don't see the bill as it's my work phone.

I typically use WiFi at home and at work, but not on the road (I travel a lot)
I have no idea what my usage is, I have never looked, never felt the need to
I gave up my unlimited plan on the phone for the tethering plan
Apparently I have never gone over because my bill has never changed

I use my iPhone as a tool, not a media center or gaming device

And the OP is asking why?

Good question--why does it matter to OP. Regardless, I use my unlimited ATT date when away from home and wi-fi at home.

I'd bet the OP is asking in order to get an estimate for himself (or herself) and what type of data plan to get, etc. for the upcoming iPhone release. Of course this is flawed because everyone's needs and experiences are so broad that to draw personal conclusions from this type of "crowd-sourcing" would be in vain.

I old advise the OP to look at the different carriers' coverage maps and data plans and then use one of their data estimators. Also, you can always change your data plan if you find yourself needing more or less.

I have the phone setup with Wifi in Home, Flat and Work.
If I ever use wifi out and about (in coffee houses etc), I power up the VPN

Otherwise it's 3G

i only use wifi when i'm at home, where i get terrible cell coverage. i hate being asked if i want to join x wireless network everywhere i go, so i just turned it off.

you can turn that off in the wifi settings. Then it will join known networks automatically but wont bug you about joining new ones unless you do it manually

WiFi is great at Work or home but when out and about have to go with 3G mostly except if theres a Wifi hotspot around like SBUX etc.

I have to use the Wifi because I only have 250MB on my phone contract. I go over that with normal web browsing on the move and on Wifi, I use more than 10GB a month watching YouTube and downloading Apps

I use WiFI whenever I can secure a strong connection like at work, home, Starbucks, etc. Most of the time I'm on WiFi, however, I use cellular date for Pandora a lot while I'm driving and when I'm at the gym. Also, if I do cardio on a machine at the gym, I'll put on Hulu+ or Netflix to pass the time. I do less driving during the summer, but I'd say my average GB usage is a little over 1.5 GB.

There's wifi almost everywhere I plant my butt, so... I use wifi then. On my commute to work and back, though... no wifi, so I don't stream anything then. Good way to blow through your limited data plan is to stream a radio station to and from work on a long commute every day.

I stream radio constantly when in the car (often a couple of hours a day) or out shopping and have only exceeded 2 GB in a month once, primarily due to heavy video streaming for a couple days.

As far as wifi use, all the time at home but otherwise not much--only a couple of the places I visit regularly have wifi with DL speeds better than my cellular data so I don't bother.

I use it at home. There's not hardly any hotspots around my town. I typically go through 1.5GB's a month and I'm on Verizon.

I just wanted to compare other iPhone bills to mine. Mine is 150 a month and I'm on Verizon.

Whenever I can (at home - outside if I can get a free wifi zone) and I have a 6GB plan. Wifi is much faster and far more reliable than 3G...

Do you use data on your iPhone all the time, and how much do you use? What do you do with your iPhone also while on cellular? Do you go over your data cap often? And who is your provider
I rarely use Wi-Fi. I've got an unlimited data plan and figured that Wi-Fi and 3G turned on, just uses up too much energy.

Data

I have the 2gb plan from AT&T and Im on wifi at home or when my phone connects me to AT&T wifi. I only end up using 600mb during a whole month so on the last few days I start downloading random crap on the downloader app. I want my money's worth even though I get a 18% corporate discount haha

Yeah it's just me. Got the share everything plan with unlimited txts and calling and 4 GBS of data

Wifi whenever I'm home and a few times at work when reception areas are bad. Verizon unlimited. Average 500MB to 1GB a month. 3g is terribly slow but once I get 4G LTE I won't bother too much with wifi if I don't need to.
