No, haven't lived with them in like 10 years, but being in the same country as them certainly helped. My mum would make the appointment for me since we went to the same dentist, and I only lived 1 hour away from her.

Actually.....I'm moving back with my folks soon. Don't have much choice, really. :( I guess I feel fairly old to be doing so, but not THAT old.

Sad to say that I haven't been to a dentist since sometime in the 80s. Lost my first tooth a few weeks ago (one of the side ones) after biting into some pizza crust. Didn't hurt and it didn't bleed. Didn't change my mind on seeing a dentist either. Oh well.

Yes, every 6 months, along with my children.

I didn't go regularly until I had my kids, then committed to it. It really is important, IMHO.

They put a sealant on my children's teeth so that cavities are non-existent. And, when my son had a cavity (before he was old enough to get the sealant) they numbed the area before injecting the Novocain. He didn't feel anything.

My children love to go to the dentist and fight over who gets to go first.

Dentistry really has come a long way.

I go once a year...I think that once every 6 months is a little unnecessary. I've never had a cavity and I brush, floss and listerine twice every day.

I'm going to start listerine'ing from now on. Using listerine is probably more effective than brushing. In fact, if you floss and use listerine, you've taken care of most of the job with regards to dental hygiene. Brushing is good, but the stuff between your teeth is the stuff that sits there, builds up, settles, and can really do damage. Some people wake up in the morning with really bad breath, and it's because of all the bacteria that has built up overnight due to the "gunk" left behind, which brushing did not remove.

That's what I was told, anyway. Listerine kills the bacteria that builds up, which is why people rarely have bad breath in the morning if they use mouthwash before going to bed. The bacteria is dead, and stays dead. All is well.

I go 3 times a year for a cleaning. It's covered by my insurance, so why not?

I started seeing an excellent dentist in Beverly Hills a few months ago (I just moved to LA this year). I gauge my dentists based on how they are with the novocaine needle. With this guy, I couldn't even feel the needle going in or during the injection. He had to replace a cracked filling that was put in by my last dentist. This new dentist did a great job.

Nice office, nice people..... and they validate valet parking....

I haven't been to the dentist in about 6 years or so. Don't really have a reason other than *life* got in the way. Since I am in college I can go let the dental hygiene majors practice on me for like $10, but just never have.

Never had a cavity either, so I guess I am good for now. I do have one baby tooth with no permanent tooth to match, so if that ever gets loose then I'll be in for some fun, especially since you can see it when I talk and smile.

I do go every six months for a cleaning. Dental insurance is sure worth it. All of you should check into it if you haven't got dental insurance already. It sure can save you quite a bit.
Treat your pearly whites right. :D

I haven't gone in two years (since I got married) for no other reason than just not making an appointment. I've since moved and now need to find another Dentist that I like (I have sensitive gums).

Before I got married I would go once a year and plan on going soon. I've got a crowded bottom row of teeth which braces only fixed for two years'ish. My jaw is just small I guess. Anyway, one incisor that sits behind two others on either side is in need of a really good plaque cleaning.

No, but that's because of the damn dentist.

Bastards won't quit taking new patients and won't work Fridays. Consequence? The last time I made an appointment for a six-month cleaning, it took nine months to get me in.

Yeah...they say:
1. 30 seconds
2. Before you floss

Yessir.

A couple visits back, I had to get all of my wisdom teeth pulled out: 3 in one sitting. One was impacted so I had to come back. It was awful at the time but I'm glad they're out of there.

Nope i rarely ever go there, having said that just my luck i will get home and there will be a letter from them oh winge winge we haven't seen you for a while etc.

Do NOT EVER skip the dentist! When I was poor and in college I couldn't afford it, and man did it suck once I could. Going to the dentist is the most important thing you can do. Don't skip it, find a way to go no matter how broke you are.

Wow.
This poll's almost even.

I go to the dentist at least every six months.
Although, I should probably take better care of
my teeth.

I go to the dentist every 6 months. When I had my braces (11-14 yrs), I'd have an orthodontist appointment and go to the dentist. I still remember hyperventilating over a check-up when I had my braces on, in fear that they'd break or something, or if they were going to pull teeth out. Nowadays I'm quite cool with dentist appointments.
