Hi everybody. I had a similar problem with my Series 2 Aluminium. It looked like the oleophobic coating was discoloured and i had a vertical yellowish strip on the left side of the Display while the rest of the Display seemed to have a blue/violet gleam in certain perspectives. How did the discoloured coating look on your watch? Apple replaced my watch as well. I thought it was an manufactoring defect. But know i wonder if it could be caused by clothes softener or something else and the replacement will suffer from the same defect.

Mine looks like brownish rusty smudges.

I do not "wash" mine. I use a microfibre cloth much like they give you for a pair of eyeglasses and thoroughly wipe the face, back and sides. I tend to fold the cloth and push it into tighter grooves just to clear out various things that may get in there over time. I never use soap, glass cleaner and I definitely avoid showering with it. I do this clealing routine fairly regularly (mult times a week) I also saw you posted annoyance with the volume after getting it wet during a workout, I can say ive experienced this and gaurantee the speakers dried up before making it to Apple for "repairs"- in these instances my routine is the same with the microfiber cloth with one addition I will lay it down face up on a thick towel during my shower, I tend to try to push it into the towel a little. If I feel like the sound is still muffled after doing the water droplet thing more than once, I lightly tap it speaker down on that thick towel three or four times in a sort of flicking motion and find with 100% rate of success that this clears the residual water- I feel if you do this your experience will improve greatly.

i have actually tried avoiding sending my watch out to apple as much as i can by doing the things you have stated as well. i just cant seem to get all the water out and as a result the speaker doesnt work for hours

Gah ok that is frustrating, but maybe yours is more stubborn. My next level tool is a Q-tip. I Guess you know more about what you've already tried but tear some cotton off the qtip its good for stuff like this because its easy to roll up and shape. Wipe down the speaker with that.. You can roll it in to a little cotton spear and hold it in there a bit and see if that can't suck some of the water out.
