I wear glasses and I've had maybe 4 pairs in the last 5 years..I don't take very good care of my glasses. I hope the next pair will last.

Also, remember to clean them, you can use cloth from an old dress shirt and cleaning solution from an eye-place. Might not be the best solution but works well for me.

glasses. actually i look better with glasses.

but i do wear contacts when summer rolls around and I have to wear sunglasses. and when i do sports (eg. swimming) [i also have to wear sunglasses anyways]

I've had some sort of vision correction since I was four. I had glasses from Kindergarten through my sophomore year in high school. I've had contact since and I rarely go out without them in. Hell, I never take them out. I leave them in when I sleep. It can be dangerous to do that, but I'm not all that worried. I got a few months at a time without replacing them and I'll take them out once or twice during that time.

But the contacts are amazing.

Prescription Swimming goggles - I didn't know they made such a thing! Where do you get them? How expensive are they?

no one needs prescription swimming goggles. Underwater, the water acts as a lens, so you see perfectly. I have horrible vision, and yet I see perfectly underwater.

I wore contact from when i was in 1st grade until around 2 years ago. I now wear glasses and love them, i never liked the feeling of something being on my eye which caused me to not wear the contacts as often as i should have. I would go for Lasik but I am not a candidate in one of my eyes because i have damage to the optic nerve. I will be sticking to glasses :)

Well, I certainly see better underwater than I do on land, but everything is still blurry... I don't know if I'm going to get them or not - I don't go swimming that often, so there are certainly better things I could spend my money on, but the thought is intriguing.

I got glasses in 2nd or 3rd grade.
I got contacts freshman or sophomore year of HS.

I'm always in my contacts, except for when I'm sick, just waking up, or going to bed.
My glasses make me feel nauseous.. I think it's that it's an old prescription, and that on them, I have a field in focus, then suddenly, a blurry black line, and then out of focus.
I get a little sea sick in glasses. :p
I am a sissy.

Soft contacts, changed monthly... the first time I put a new pair on .. OH LIKE BUTTAH!
LIKE BUTTAH IN MY EYE!

it feels soooo goooooddd!!!

you don't really notice contacts until they get really old (for the disposable kind) or something in them. (eyelash, dust, etc)
Before I got my contacts I was one of those people who thought "OMG!1!1 I can't wear something IN MY EYE! I'll feel it constantly!!"
Naw.. Not true.
and you're not touching your eye, you're touching your CONTACT ...which touches your eye. ;)
(am I winking or did I poke out one of my eyes?)

edit:
forgot to add: w/o contacts: 20/30 left, 20/25 right
with contacts: 20/17 left, 20/15 right. OH YES, I can read street signs from like 400 feet away.
My glasses are such an old prescription. I'm wearing them right now, typing this post and.. *blurgh* I feel woozy.

I had glasses at a really young age as well, probably about 8 or so. I've essentially had them all my life, and was quite used to them, but then when we were planning a trip to Australia, I realized how my glasses simply would not be conducive to snorkeling, scuba diving, etc. So, I invested in my first set of contacts, and they opened up a whole new world for me! As a result, I am definitely in no rush to get laser eye surgery, and am quite content with my contacts. I give my eyes a break from time to time though and wear my glasses, but it's definitely nice having options.

I used to wear contacts every single day, now I wear my glasses on weekends and contacts during the work week. Not ready for Lasik yet.

I have excellent eyesight thankfully. My girlfriend has bad sight and is stuck with the contacts and glasses which has given me a bit of insight into how inconvenient they are.

I started with glasses and then got contacts a year later thinking that i would were them. For a while i did pretty much 5-6 days a week but in the end i went back to glasses.

I got some that have the transitions lenses. that is they turn dark when in the sun. I have found them to work OK. they are pretty quick to change back and forth. The probelm i have found is if you are not directly in sunlight they might not get dark enough. Like for me, when driving in the car they usually do not get dark enough (i think this is cause the sun cannot hit them directly). I do think transitions lenses are worth it though because when you are out in the sun they do change and work very well.

The contacts i have i mainly used for sports, outdoor activities, and other things were i am afraid to break or lose my glasses.

Glasses. I can see pretty well without them, but once you start seeing perfectly, its pretty hard to stop wearing them and lose some clarity in your vision.

They are fine, except for when they get dirty... :(

I've never found them all that inconvenient, except in the rain of course. My eyes are reasonably good, I can drive without my glasses and pass the eye sight test with flying colours, I just get some nasty headaches without them and it takes me a little longer to refocus when switching from close-up to far away.

I just couldn't touch my eyes with my finger and look much better with glasses on.

I wear glasses most of the time and have done for about 20 years. I am completely blind without them, so I have ridiculously expensive ultra thin lenses. When I'm going out I will sometimes wear contacts, but my eyes can be sensitive and I can't wear them for more than about 6 hours at a time.

Only time I really wish I didn't wear them is while playing pool - to get down over the cue properly I always end up looking over the top of them, and my game suffers.

You need some of these :D

Ah, but I need to get from the changing rooms to the pool, or from the beach to the sea. That's where they're helpful.

I have been known to turn them upside down for comedy means on a difficult shot....;)

Glasses ever since junior college chemestry class. Where I had a different type of acid in my eyes.

Goodby 20/12, hello 20/25-or something.

Just got the letter in the mail saying its been 2 years since and I need to get a new exam / perscription. Maybe its time to try contacts?
