not wanting to wear her contacts and take the chance of losing one or both in the water.

It's a very bad idea to wear contacts while swimming anyway. There's a rare but potentially sight-losing bug in swimming pool water. If it gets behind the lens it's basically got a breeding ground (the surface of the lens itself) away from the washing action of the eye.

Prescription swimming goggles are cool.

Even more so is my prescription mask for scuba diving/snorkelling. :D

Err...you know you've got a patch over that eye, right?

I wear glasses for anything over about six feet. I got these;

'cause they're ultra light and have flexible titainuim frames so they should last a little longer than my old ones.

I'm looking at getting some of these, with prescription lenses, or similar for the summer;

Contacts and glasses. My glasses are older, though, so the prescription isn't as good. I usually only wear them when my eyes feel dried out from the contacts.

If you get contacts consider getting the ones you can wear overnight. They let more oxygen into your eyes. I've thought about switching over to those from the Acuvues I'm using now.

If you are willing to go through the pain of adjusting to non-disposable contacts I'd recommend gas permeables. They take about two weeks (and a lot of patience) to get used to, but they give you better clarity if you have an astigmatism or anything like that. I used those for over 10 years before switching to soft. I can detect a decrease in clarity in my vision since switching from gas perms to soft, but I'm too lazy to switch back. Mostly because I hope to get Lasik soon. :)

I'm lucky enough to have perfect vision. Everyone on my dad's side of the family wears glasses (including my brother and sister), but I missed out on that particular strand of DNA fortunately. My brother just got contacts the other day though as he plays a lot of sport, and glasses weren't all that convenient.

I'm planning on lasik before the end of the year - that's the only thing that stopped me from getting a prescription mask - the more I think about it, the more I kind of wonder if that was a smart idea. My last dive I missed a shark because I couldn't see that far (so yes muffinman you do need glasses underwater - maybe not as strong, but I can promise that they make a whoel heck of a lot of difference).

Contacts 90% of the time....glasses 10% of the time.

That's pretty much my ratio nowadays as well. Although I do tend to wear my glasses almost all the time on the weekends, unless I'm going out, so that would bump my ratio up - mine might be more like 80% contacts 20% glasses. ;) :)

thats just about how i am ~Shard~. i have no problems wearing my glasses out, but tend not to. i also always switch over to my glasses if i get a headache/migranie as the put less pressure on my eyes and it seems to help a little bit.

that sounds like a good solution. Do you guys get head aches often?

forgot to add: w/o contacts: 20/30 left, 20/25 right
with contacts: 20/17 left, 20/15 right. OH YES, I can read street signs from like 400 feet away.
My glasses are such an old prescription. I'm wearing them right now, typing this post and.. *blurgh* I feel woozy.

Wow, I didn't think 20/30 or 20/25 was bad enough to get glasses! Wonder if that's why you correct so well with the contacts? e.g. have such great vision

i get headaches all the time, but they have nothing to do with my eyesight really. more to do with stress and pressure changes. i hate migraines, i get them less than i used to, but i still get 'em.

i don't have glasses, but i have a feeling i need them. i get headaches very easily when i read and take awhile to focus on things. not sure whether i'd get contacts tho...

Who here wears glasses or contacts?
Just wondering.... I may have to get some soon. :(
Contacts! Totally fine one you get used to them, great help for seeing.
Good luck! Hope it's great!
And as far as glasses go, they're awesome too. I had them for a while. :)

I don't get headaches at all anymore. I used to get them from time to time, but even then, it had nothing to do with my contacts/glasses, I was simply consuming too much junk food in the form of chips, Coke and other sugar-laced crap. Once I cut that out of my diet and started treating my body better and becoming more healthy, my headaches stopped, my allergies went away, and I felt like a new person.

But, that's slightly off topic. No, I've never had headaches because of my contacts/glasses, and I do think it helps to give my eyes a rest from time to time and not wear my contacts constantly.

Contacts pretty much all the time. My eyes are really bad, I am -6.00 plus astigmatism. Glasses are too thick (even with the most expensive high index lenses) and looks too scary to wear in public.

I rotate about every month. I find that my eyes feel better when I give them a break from constant contact use.

hehe. I took this shot with my crappy cell phone. Suppose to have 2 MP, what a joke.

Glasses. i have astigmatism, and am/was(?) slightly far-sighted (last I knew I was 20/15, but m finding that I'm not quite that good anymore.)

I originally got glasses for reading, as I'd get headaches when reading over half an hour... then got another set for distance as I can see, yes, but I can't change focus quickly. This led to a lot of switching pairs of glasses, and I got fed up... and went to bifocals. Much easier now that I can see the dashboard of the car AND the road ahead without any time to adjust.

I tend to take my glasses off if I'm in a comfortable spot where I don't need to see detail or change focus often (cooking, work, websurfing, etc)

I heartily recommend the anti-reflective coating, not only does it have the properties described above, but cuts down on being blinded by headlights at night and some headaches from CRTs.

no,

,But contacts seem neat because you can change your eye color. Glasses can turn to sun glasses(however i hear they don't work so well)
I wear glasses with the Transitions. They turn dark pretty fast, but they take ~5 minutes to get clear again. But now that I have em, it's really hard to go without em because you're so used to having them automatically shade for you;).

And I hope I can have contacts soon. Then there will be less to distract people from my natural beauty! Then again, my glasses look good. I'll stick with em for now.
