Or how often to you wipe it down / clean it? What method do you use? Should we be cleaning differently for aluminum vs SS?

I tend to just wipe down with a micro fiber cloth after I take it off every day (space black SS). Mine is a S0 so I can't get too crazy with water.

After every exercise, I take the watch off, run the band / watch under water while rubbing it with just fingers - if it was a heavy run I might use a light amount of soap on the band only. Then I dry it off with a towel and let it sit for about 10 mins. Never worn it in the shower (AW3 GPS).

I never thought about using other than a moist micro fiber to clean my S0 SS. Can I subject this thing to any kind of water more than a wet cloth?

Series 3 GPS only, aluminum. I wipe it down every morning and evening with a moist microfiber cloth, I have taken the standard fog band off and washed it in mild soapy water once after wearing for a couple of months.

All you really need is to rinse it under warm water and thoroughly dry it off under with a microfiber cloth.

Like several others said, I rinsed off my S0 in the shower nearly every day (just as Tim Cook reportedly said about his own watch) and towel-dried it.

As long as your towel doesn't have sand or dirt in it, it's not going to harm the watch.

Series 2 SBSS. I clean my case multiple times a day with either my tshirt or a microfiber cloth (usually anytime I see finger prints or dust on it). I also wipe the case down each night before I put the watch on the charger before I go to bed.

Does Apple claim any sort of water resistance on the S0? I could have sworn it was no water resistance at all, at least on the scale they use.

AW SS Series 3 , wipe the screen down every day. Wash the band every week with MIcrofiber cloth and soap cleaner. Helps get ride of the sweat spots since they are harder to get off the longer you leave it on

They have said from the beginning that the Watch was water resistant, even the S0.

I have a stainless Series 3, as well as a couple of metal bands. I just breathe on the watch and wipe it with a microfiber cloth after I put it on. Makes it nice and shiny! :D

I run my under the tap after a run, that’s about it.
A note from Apple website about showering:

Showering with Apple Watch Series 2 and Apple Watch Series 3 is ok, but we recommend not exposing Apple Watch to soaps, shampoos, conditioners, lotions, and perfumes as they can negatively affect water seals and acoustic membranes.

The unofficial beta version of the Apple Watch -- officially, and commonly, known as the sixth-generation iPod Nano -- had no water resistance. I got nervous about my Nano every time I washed my hands, so I stopped trying to wear it like a watch.

I can tell you that I'd have never bought a first-gen Watch unless it was at least splashproof, which it turned out to be. Took mine in the swimming pool once, too.

The S0 wasn't rated for submersion because it was basically glued together, especially its caseback. They changed the construction for the S2 and S3 and added an O-ring seal for the back, which gave it its 50m WR rating.

This is an odd question, but does anyone have any brand of micro fiber cloths that they prefer or specifically use?

Im think of ordering some from Amazon & just wanted to get some thoughts! Thanks!

Meh, I rarely clean my watch. It's never that dirty. Every few weeks I run the milanese loop under the sink with a little soapy water. The milanese loop came from a release day G1/s0 SS and works as good as ever, but has taken on a bit of a dull appearance. I'm thinking of getting a cape cod cloth to clean it up.

Otherwise no special care needed... even now that I have a S3SS

Not an odd question at all. As a matter fact, there is one specific microfiber cloth that I really like that's available from Amazon. I'm very particular with my Sports car, this is the only type of cloth that I will even use to clean it. It's excellent quality for an affordable price.

You can order them in a set of 12, 24 or 48.

Thanks! I'll check those out! I don't have any micro fibber cloths & I recently got a a series 3, so thinking I should grab some decent ones!

For the watch? No. I wipe mine down with my bath towel after I’ve rinsed it off.

When I was picky about microfiber rags, usually for waxing my car or polishing my tuba, I found some at Autozone that didn’t have edges on them. That’s the one feature that’s difficult to find — edgeless cloth. The ones in the Amazon link have edges on them. The idea is that the edge border is a different composition than the rest of the cloth, and it’s the part that’ll cause scratches.

You can also use the little microfiber handkerchief that you get with sunglasses.

I obsessively clean the screen throughout the day as I hate fingertip oils on the screen. I have a SS series 3 with Milanese loop. Usually clean it in the sink with Dawn if I think it's getting dirty. The Milanese loop I had with my series 2 would get the toothbrush treatment when it started getting dull.
