The ones in the Amazon link have edges on them. The idea is that the edge border is a different composition than the rest of the cloth, and it’s the part that’ll cause scratches..

Edges or not, the Royal cloths will not scratch the Apple Watch at all with the dislay or casing. Unless you have used these cloths, your opinion is moot on these. And this coming from some who has used these cloths on multiple Apple Watches with zero effects caused by scratching the Apple Watch on any variation and vehicles I own with these, as I am very particular about producing results. I understand edgeless cloths and the point behind them, but the Royal cloths are easily the best microfiber cloth I have ever used in texture and pliability. Auto zone cloths might be suitable for your own cases, but even my dealership I frequent uses the Royal cloths, which is How I found these to begin with.

Ok.

My cotton bath towel from Ikea hasn't scratched either of my watches, either.

1. I think you're getting pretty wound up about it, and

2. I think your car dealership uses these because they can get them cheap in bulk.

What you stated is patently false. You implied if they cloths have "Edges", it will scratch the Watch. That does not mean they will scratch the watch if you have no experience/attest to this because you have not used the product, which in fact the edges won't scratch the Watch from My own uses.

Furthermore:

2. I think your car dealership uses these because they can get them cheap in bulk.

You're wrong and right. You're correct in the sense that you can purchase these in bulk, but you're wrong in the sense that that's why they choose them because of bulk. This is exactly the Product the body shop at the dealership uses to detail vehicles that they recommend for the best results, which they have high expectations when detailing vehicles based off my history with them.

Lighten up, Francis. Sheesh.

I don’t know why you’ve gotten so riled up about some stupid rags.

[edit so this post doesn’t get flagged as “frivolous”]

It’s just glass and metal. Whether it’s hardened glass and aluminum, or synthetic sapphire and steel (or even extra-hard ceramic), it’s not made of green moss. These things are pretty durable.

Whatever someone would use to clean their drinking glasses, they can probably use to wipe off the watch.

Now, of course this leaves out Scotchbrite pads and steel wool, but only a true knucklehead would try using them (or someone who’s creating a brushed finish).

I’m not being snarky when I say I just use my bath towel, either. My steel first-gen always looked good, and my Series 2 looks fine.

One more thing (and I’m risking appearing wound-up as well) —

There’s no reason to go online to buy some rags and wait for them to be shipped. There are plenty of retailers close enough to anyone on this forum where they can drop by on the way home from work and pick up a polishing rag.

I obsessively clean the screen throughout the day as I hate fingertip oils on the screen. I have a SS series 3 with Milanese loop. Usually clean it in the sink with Dawn if I think it's getting dirty. The Milanese loop I had with my series 2 would get the toothbrush treatment when it started getting dull.

With my S0 SS with Milanese Loop I would wash the whole thing at the end of the day with Neutrogena. This, I believe, kept the Milanese from clogging up and kept it sparkling :) no need for a toothbrush. :) I saw a woman who had the Milanese and she said she never washed it and I could tell as the first half of her Milanese, width-wise was clogged and dirty.

I now have the S3 and only wear it with a sports band. I still wash it at the end of every day and use the water expulsion function. I noticed if I don't use Neutrogena and instead use liquid hand soap there are more soapy bubbles so now I just use Neutrogena only. Washing it every day does wash away faster the coating on top of the screen and it does wash away some kind of coating on the sports band that makes it shiny. It seems to affect the black sport band the most. My black sports band is no where near as shiny as a new one.

Yes I do, as well as my iPhone X. Kind of obsessive about clean screens, keyboards, mice, and my AW Series 3 Nike+ watch.

What’s the water expulsion function?

Applied once and I hardly wipe my s2

It’s on the Series 2 and up. After you lock the screen (the button has a water droplet icon), then unlock it, the speaker beeps loudly to push water out of the speaker cavity.

Wow, thanks! I didn't know about this at all! Recently upgraded from a series 0, so this is a nice surprise.

Or how often to you wipe it down / clean it? What method do you use? Should we be cleaning differently for aluminum vs SS?

I tend to just wipe down with a micro fiber cloth after I take it off every day (space black SS). Mine is a S0 so I can't get too crazy with water.

SB SS S3. I give it a good wash using water only after I go to the gym. Band is off. (That band is gym only).

I'll tell ya, the first time I used it (also moved from an S0 to an S2), my wife heard it and went, "What the hell is that noise??"

Yes, daily, with a microfiber cloth. I do the same for my 8 Plus.

Slightly off subject but how are the crown/home buttons on you guys’s S3’s. My girlfriends S2 has a nice click to it but my S3 feels a bit mushy
