Mine's on the right. The bottom takes up too much screen for me when on a widescreen LCD unless you really shrink it down. It doesn't bother me on the bottom quite so much on something like an iMac or a ACD. I thought about hiding it but I quite like to check what I have open and if there's any mail etc.

I did originally move it from the bottom to the left for a few months. But got tired of throwing the cursor all the way across the screen from my scroll bar, where it seems to spend a lot of its time, and moved the Dock to the right and reasonably sized.

Mine's hanging to the left  with hiding turned on. I like that's it's close to the top-bar, so I can switch quickly between the icon and the menu-items..

Even though it looks nice down the bottom I put mine on the right shortly after getting my 15" powerbook. Seems like a waste of screen space to have it at the bottom on a widescreen.

I'm totally used to it on the right now, much prefer to the left, there's something right about still having the trash can in the bottom right of the screen

On the right side, then shifted down so the trash is always in the bottom right corner where it belongs!

Can't remeber which program I used to do it, there are tons of 'em.

I leave it on bottom but make the icons about half the size that they shipped with. The dock is cool, but sometimes it takes up a lot of space.

have mine on the left...makes more sense to have it taking up horizontal space rather than vertical space, considering the amount you get :)

I have mine on the Right. But maybe someone can help me. The dock covers my desktop icons, which drives me crazy. Is it supposed to do that?

My work G5 with dual monitors has the dock at the bottom. My PB 17" has it on the left. Both machines have the dock set to hide.

After reading this thread I have now placed mine on the right -- we shall see how it goes. It's also on hide.

I hate putting my dock on hide, and I like the bottom. The other sides just aren't as natural. Well the problem with the right side is the dock will push my ichat buddy list over which meanss it covers part of my firefox window and I can't stand my buddy list on the other side. I don't like it on the left because it's too close to the menu bar at the top. The bottom is uncluttered and dock only region.

I have mine in bottom left. I would put it in the top left if it was officially endorsed and didn't confuse windows because its the most natural corner when using a mouse.

Hmmmm, I had it on the bottom ever since I switched, but I just changed it to the Right and I seem to like that better

The bottom and only the bottom:D i find it the it useful place..and its easiest to access for me..plus i mainly use spotlight more than the dock!!!

Mine is on the left for a very practical reason: Websites and documents take up vertical space, but not much horizontal space, so you can read more without scrolling. Your eyes also read from top to bottom, so it's nice having an unobstructed view of a page.

That said, the dock feels more "balanced" on the bottom and makes the desktop look a bit better. Choose your compromise.

Well, actually they read from left to right. (I know there are some peoples who read vertically or right to left, but im speaking about the majoriy here). Thats why screens have more width than height, especially widescreens :D WOuld you like having tallscreen?

Well, yeah but let's assume I prefer snap-to-grid. Any way to fix it?
I was wondering the same thing. Here's what I did as a workaround:
Right click desktop
show view options
move label position to right
