Apple has ordered "The Supermodels," a documentary event series that explores the careers of high-profile models that include Naomi Campbell, Cindy Crawford, Linda Evangelista, and Christy Turlington.

According to Apple, the docuseries will feature "exclusive access" and interviews with the models, who plan to revisit their careers and the "collective disruption of the 90s fashion scene."
"The Supermodels" travels back to the 1980s, when four women from different corners of the world united in New York. Already forces in their own right, the gravitas they achieved by coming together transcended the industry itself. Their prestige was so extraordinary that it enabled the four to supersede the brands they showcased, making the names Naomi, Cindy, Linda and Christy as prominent as the designers who styled them. Today, the four supermodels remain on the frontlines of culture through activism, philanthropy and business prowess. As the fashion industry continues to redefine itself - and women's roles within it - this is the ultimate story of power and how four women came together to claim it, paving the way for those to follow.
The show will be directed and executive produced by Barbara Kopple and executive produced by Brian Grazer, Ron Howard, and all of the models who are participating. There's no release date for the series at this time.

Apple has secured several documentary television shows and films for Apple TV+ in addition to "The Supermodels," including "Beastie Boys Story," "Boys State," "Home," and "Dads."

I have nothing against any of these women but why oh why is Apple having a documentary about them (or even the topic of supermodels)? This has to be the last topic I would ever want to see for a documentary let alone a series.

I would not watch it, but in all fairness fashion is a multi billion industry that has lots of social consequences.

Not something I am interested in at the moment but at least Apple is adding shows to their TV+ lineup. It seems almost each day or every other day something is announced. As it stands today the catalog is below basic but each addition makes it a tad better (even if you dont like the content).

pleasantly surprised to see this coming out of apple, won't watch it but maybe they will end up catering to multiple audiences which is nice. supermodels don't seem to be an 'in' thing right now..

thats the best documentary they could come up with? hard pass.......

it’s the best era of fashion and style for men and women. Think George Michael, Miami Vice, Pet Shop Boys, Whitney Houston, the rising stars of fashion design, rock and pop.

if people had more respect for their looks today we would have a better society. Instead people are sitting at home like losers with dirty hair, flicking through Tinder, dancing alone like a loser on Tiktokstagram and getting into manufactured imaginary race wars on Twitter.

I must agree with that, at least on general terms.

And sadly it’s the phone in our hand right now that got us here. Connected but disconnected. Waiting for our next ‘like’ so that we can get some confirmation we are still appreciated in our little confirmation bias bubbles.

Unable to watch this, even if I wanted to.
I foresee my graveyard inscription: „Here lieth L.M., he haseth been bored to death“.

Not suicidal though.... 🙃
