I would not watch it, but in all fairness fashion is a multi billion industry that has lots of social consequences.
Isn't this is the kind of stuff Discovery Channel and all those other basic reality cable TV channels force feed us. How can Tim think this type of content will build Apple TV+ to a service we would be willing to pay for. So far, except for a few episodes of "For All Mankind" there's nothing there for me. Tim's wasting his money on production. At this rate, Apple should forget about original content. I'll stick with Amazon Prime TV's content.

You’re asking the wrong person, I am watching 1950’s noir movies...

I have nothing against any of these women but why oh why is Apple having a documentary about them (or even the topic of supermodels)? This has to be the last topic I would ever want to see for a documentary let alone a series.
You know, a good documentary doesn’t necessarily just tell you things you already know, it surprises you with insight into something you didn’t understand before. This might do that.

I’m surprised Apple is behind content like this. It is the opposite of messaging they do most of the time.

This suggests to me Apple is desperate to increase viewership.

They should produce some wing nut conspiracy show next, or perhaps a show featuring a thinly veiled anti-immigration story. How low will the company go for eyeballs?

still cancelled my Apple TV+ free trial year though.
looking forward to season 2 For All Mankind, but it’s not enough to keep me a subscriber.

I'm willing to bet it doesn't shine a light on the truly ugly side, but if it does that would be huge for young girls idolising these women (and men in some cases).

I kind of feel Apple is making shows for their own higher ups nostalgia of the past. Everything is so retro old, I get its popular but why not cover new or contemporary people

This may be more inciteful that it looks. Having watched The Elephant Queen, The Beastie Boys Story, Boys State, Home and Visible: Out On Television, Apple has released some very good documentaries.

I wouldn't say I'm a Beastie Boys fan, even though I have one of their albums, but the documentary was very good in telling the history of the group and made me appreciate them more. As for Visible: Out On Television, it's the best documentary I have watched about the LGBTQA+ community and its representation on TV. I have high hopes that this documentary about supermodels will be good as I feel the standard from Apple has been very good so far.

It seems to me that they should have a documentary or reality show related to science and technology. Maybe feature young people going into tech professions: engineers, physicists, mathematicians, etc. After all, aren't there a disproportionate number of Apple TV users interested in that stuff? I know I am! I'd be curious to see what the day-to-day routine is for a scientist in real life...like "Big Bang Theory", but a reality version. Follow people like Leonard and Sheldon around at work and show a little bit about what they do, what motivates them, what they do in their free time...generally what makes them tick. I am absolutely NOT interested in the lifestyle and motivations of supermodels. Let me guess...they always loved being beautiful and they really just want to take that beauty to the next level and become super rich and famous. Okay, got it.

Totally agreed that they should do a documentary (or several) on science and scientists (I know a bunch of scientists, they’re not as different from regular humans as you might imagine). But on the models... you’re showing an awful lot of pre-judgement - assuming their day-to-day lives must fit your most pessimistic guesses. Why not watch a bit and find out. Maybe the documentary and the subject matter is as crass as you think. Or maybe, like all things, it’s more complicated than it appears on the surface. The documentary you’re describing sounds like a puff piece put out by Sports Illustrated or Victoria’s Secret, to promote their shows/products. Real documentaries are usually better than that, and Apple has shown so far that it wants to do real documentaries.

Oh, and if you want an awesome documentary on the lives and ambitions of world-class male supermodels, watch “Zoolander”, it’s absolutely hilarious (and will fit all your preconceived notions).
